PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I was very happy to be introduced to this convenient and useful tool by a fellow college student who also led a very busy lifestyle.
We were having difficulties finding time to meet up for a group project, and Google Docs helped by allowing us to collaborate on work from home!
ELEMENTARY INCORPORATION
Why use it?Students can use Google Docs to: Work on their files from any computer-all
they need is an internet connection. Get instant feedback on their work from
multiple collaborators and their teachers. Publish their papers and presentations on
the web for an authentic audience.
USEFUL FOR TEACHERS
Teachers can use Google Docs to: Provide timely feedback to students at any
point during the writing process. Collaborate with colleagues on shared
materials and assessment data Publish handouts and presentations online
for students and parents.
IDEAS FOR CLASSROOM USE
Split class into 8 groups and have them conduct research on an assigned planet and then collaborate using Google Docs.
Have all groups collaborate research and design a PowerPoint presentation on the Solar System
Each student would view research on every planet and then choose which one they would live on and then explain why.
PLANET PROJECTGOOGLE DOCS
Mr. Walkinshaw’s 5th grade classAugust 10th, 2013
Project OverviewEach group will conduct research based on the planet assigned to them. They will be required to collaborate digitally through the use of Google Docs. I will be monitoring progress as well as providing feedback and answering any questions through the use of this application.
Research Research should be concentrated to these 5 areas:
• Size of the planet
• Location of the planet in relation to the sun
• Physical characteristics of the planet
• History of the planet• Resources found on planet
The sun is in the center of all orbits
There are smaller planets closer to the sun
There is a mix of planet sizes further away
KEEP DETAILED RECORDS Controlled variables: These are the things that are kept the same throughout your experiments. Independent variable: The one variable that you purposely change and test. Dependent variable: The measure of change observed because of the independent variable. It
is important to decide how you are going to measure the change.

Think you have it figured out?
I want to make sure you have grasped the basic idea of how Google Docs works.I created a Google Doc specifically to ensure that there is understanding. Here is the link to the actual document:

When viewing the document please find the fact that is most interesting to you and edit the fact so that the font is 24 and the print is bold. This will show me that you understand
how to access the document and make edits to the content.
