Since 2007, the Cen-traCare Health Foundationhas generated more than$57 million to help fund pa-tient care, innovation, re-search and education.

Now, CentraCare is ex-panding the foundation intothe Monticello-Big Lakearea.

Michelle Redding wasrecently hired as the firstdevelopment director atCentraCare Monticello tostart a “regional hub” ofthe foundation in the area.

“The foundation’s mis-sion is to engage the philan-thropic community inpartnership to improve

health and health care,”says Redding. “I am theconduit for the foundation.I will be working locally toengage with people in thecommunity who are philan-

thropic and who are inter-ested in investing in thehealth and healthcare of ourlocal community.”

The foundation hasmore than 50 members,1,100 volunteers and 7,100donors who are making adifference in their commu-nities across Central Min-nesota.

The foundation raised$2.3 million for a 62,000sq. ft. clinic and hospital inLong Prairie and $800,00in the St. Cloud area for theBLEND initiative to fightyoung adult obesity.

Collectively this pastyear, 4,996 benefactors in-vested more than $9.3 mil-lion in CentraCare Healthto support educational pro-

grams, conduct researchand provide services thatimprove the quality ofhealth and health care in theregion.

In the past fiscal year,CentraCare Health Founda-tion also gave $5.1 millionin health care grantsthroughout Central Min-nesota.

Redding has a back-ground in healthcare andcommunity fundraising/development. She most re-cently worked for CatholicCharities in St. Cloud andhas worked for Habitat forHumanity in the St. Cloudarea.

She worked in theTwin Cities for HealthEastFoundation, and in Min-

neapolis for the AmericanRefugee Committee, whichworks with refugees anddisplaced persons aroundthe globe.

“I was engagingdonors around the countrywho were interested inhelping to alleviate peo-ple’s suffering,” she says.

Now Redding has beenmeeting with organizationsand people in the commu-nity. She recently joined theMonticello Rotary and at-tended chamber of com-merce meetings in Beckerand Big Lake.

“It’s been wonderful.I’m getting to know thiscommunity and I’m veryexcited about it,” she says.“I’m getting acquainted

with people who have beeninvolved with supportinghealthcare in the past andI’m meeting people in thecommunity who are newlyinterested in becoming in-volved in ensuring that wehave a strong healthcareprovider in our commu-nity.”

There is no target dol-lar amount or specific proj-ect, like a new hospitalwing, to raise funds to sup-port. Redding says therewill be something on thehorizon, and she intends toform a regional develop-ment committee.
