MOTORCYCLE HELMET FACTS NHTSA estimates that helmets saved 1,784

motorcyclists’ lives in 2010, and that 800 more could have been saved if all motorcyclists had worn helmets.

Helmeted riders have up to a 73% lower Fatality rate then non-helmeted riders.

Helmeted riders have up to an 85% reduced incidence of serious, and critical injuries then non-helmeted riders.

Non-helmeted riders are over three times as likely to suffer a brain injury as were those who were helmeted.

MOTORCYCLE HELMETS FACTS CONTINUED

Head Injury is a leading cause of death and serious injury in motorcycle accidents, which is why helmets that meet or exceed federal safety standards (DOT) should always be worn.

Research studies show that motorcycle helmets are 37% effective in preventing fatal injuries and 71% effective in preventing serious brain injury.
