Fr. Joe’s Week: Tuesday I went to Beikirch for Mass, which was interrupted by a onion farmer from Elba. We managed to get things back on track again and had a lovely celebration. The Masses are open to anyone, come and join us on the third Tuesday sometime…That evening our Pastoral Council met to plan for coming events and to give formal approval to the plan to pay for our new building. We had a good discussion about our plan, and the council voted unanimously in favor…Wednesday I had an appointment in the morning, then Jeanette Banker and I went on an adventure. I picked her up at her home, and then we went into the wilds of Orleans County. I’d never been to Oak Orchard, so we took the long road to the Black North Inn for lunch. It was a fine meal and lovely surroundings watching the fishermen. Then we came home by the lakeshore and into Hamlin—a great time. Thanks, Jeanette!...Thursday I went to the Priest Anniversary Mass at Sacred Heart. At the lunch afterwards I sat with Fr. Dan Holland, Fr. Bernie Dollen and others—a lively table. Congratulations to the Jubilarians!…Friday afternoon I met with Margot VanEtten and Shannon Loughlin to continue discussions about folding the Campus Ministry into our ministries at Nativity. It was a good discussion. We have a group of four parishioners who will help with the process over the coming months…Then I went to Sacred Heart to help Fr. McKenna with confessions, and shared a pasta dinner at the Cathedral dining room…Saturday after Mass I went to Bill Gray’s for the benefit chicken dinner. It was very good—I particularly liked the collard greens. They sold over 300 tickets…Sunday I was hoping to get some help moving furniture, but it didn’t work out. Scott has moved some stuff, but we need some help with the big chairs and bookcases. If you can help, call the Office to get Scott’s number…After the Spanish Mass I went to Sodus Point (I guess this is my Lake Ontario week) to see Bob and Jill Lee, good friends from the Wolcott parish. We went to supper at the Bay Street Hotel at the Point; which seems to be as good as ever. It’s always good to see Bob and Jill…Monday our Planning Committee met. Details are elsewhere in the bulletin. Afterwards we gathered for some fine Irish whiskey…God bless and have a good week!

Office News

In today’s Gospel and reading from the letter of St. Paul we hear of the gift of the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In our devotional life we make the sign of the cross and recite the “Glory Be” as an expression of our faith as a Trinitarian people. But what does it mean for Christian stewards to accept in a practical way the experience of God in this three-fold gift? Is it a call to share our own life in community, with compassion and love, and to work for healing, justice, peace and unity? Is it an invitation to invite others into fellowship with us in the unity of the Father, Son and Spirit?

Mass Book for June-December

You may now book Masses for the second half of 2018 by calling or coming to the Parish Office weekdays from 9 am-4 pm. Intentions are also available for the Beikirch and Brookdale nursing home Masses which Father Joe does each month. Inquire at the Office as to the dates.

Our Faith, Our Family, Our Future

We met with LaBella and Pike on Monday night, and we were given the whole construction schedule. The first set of bids will return in a couple of weeks and, if they come in as expected, we will award right away. If they are high, we will have to make some adjustments. The next set of bids will go out later, but we should be done with the bid process by mid-July. Ground breaking is expected, if all goes well, the third week in June, with the building being done before the end of March, 2019. Keep praying for our project, and remember to keep current on your pledges to our Capital Campaign.

Campaign Prayer Gracious God, through Your Holy Spirit, You continue to

bless the community of Church of the Nativity with Your abundant gifts. Grant us Your guidance in the use of these gifts as we look to the future of our parish and its pressing needs. We remember those before us who committed their resources to create a legacy at Church of the Nativity and we gratefully seek to follow in their example. Loving God, as we unite in faith, hope and charity to

build our new parish center, we ask that You direct our efforts and inspire us to respond generously to this capital campaign with our time, talent and treasure.

May our work be worthy of Your goodness and our accomplishments reflect Your glory. Accept our prayer in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
