We’re Building Strong Teams To Build Up Strong KidsStrength. Resiliency. Hope. Healing. These are some of the traits we see displayed in the children we serve. They are stronger than they think they are. They are resilient and can do anything they set their minds to. They have hope for a bright future. They can heal from child abuse. The first step to healing for a child is being heard and believed. Our education team focuses on prevention education to make sure adults know how to respond appropriately if they are faced with an incident of child abuse. The second step to healing is having a compassionate team of professionals in place ready when a family needs our help. Investigators and prosecutors are focused on protecting children and seeking justice. The third step is to begin healing services. Our team of family advocates and therapists ensure that children are provided personalized healing services. Every step of the way our team is reminding these children that they are brave, that it is not their fault and that they can heal.

As we look back on this fiscal year, we are reminded that building a strong team is key to changing our community. With 6,213 confirmed cases of abuse in Tarrant County, we know that there is still work to be done. But we know that for the 1,899 children who were served through one of our centers, hope began through our dedicated team.

As we walk with these children on their journey to healing, they are making us stronger and inspiring us to work harder. They are leading us to fight for stricter legislation, expand our prevention education and secure funding that allows us to offer additional healing services.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our team this year and the children we are fighting to protect. Whether through a donation or time spent volunteering, you are helping us build stronger teams to build up stronger kids.

32 children attended our first year of Camp B.L.U.E. (Building. Learning. Understanding. Empowering.) Camp B.L.U.E. was created especially for children who have been or are being served through our agency. The children enjoy arts and crafts, games, music, presentations on cooking, nutrition, exercise and special guest visitors. Camp B.L.U.E. is a fun way for kids to just be kids.

THE MAKEOVER PROJECT

Members of our Clinical Team

6

Alliance For Children began the Makeover Project in 2015. The program was created to serve children who were victims of abuse in their own homes and, quite often, in their own bedrooms. Healing comes in many ways, and one of those ways is through the work of volunteers and donors through The Makeover Project. A child can be given a fresh start when his or her room is given a new coat of paint and updated bedding, furniture and décor.

Great Conversation Dinner

Alliance For Children celebrated five years of our Let’s Play Bingo Ladies Luncheon in March of 2015. Over 500 women came together to support Alliance For Children while enjoying a cocktail reception, delicious lunch, unique silent auction and of course, Bingo! The event, held at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel, brings the women of Tarrant County together for a common cause – to prevent child abuse.

2015 event Co-Chair Spring Johnson (left) enjoys the cocktail reception with guests Mary Bonham and Nelda Mullenax.

2015 event Co-Chair Lori McCarty (center) browses the silent auction with

Kathy Presbaugh (l) and Lori’s daughter Shelby.

Alliance For Children enjoyed a third year at Globe Life Park hosting our Picnic at the Park event. Guests at this event enjoy lunch in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame, mingling with Texas Rangers alumni, and tickets in the Lower Homerun Porch to watch the game. Picnic at the Park is also a special time for Alliance For Children to honor outstanding partners and staff members through our Team Excellence Awards.

Our Team Excellence Award Winners from 2014 pose with Honorary Chairs Robyn & Jon Daniels, Emcees Ben and Skin, former Texas Ranger Michael Young and AFC Executive Director Julie Evans. Winners (l-r):Melinda WestmorelandEmily Millican, Shawn Washington, Julie Lovett, Ashley Rader, and Mike McCormack.

The Great Conversation Dinner is just that, a great conversation with some of the most interesting people in Tarrant County. Our 2014 event featured special guest Emmitt Smith and over 30 table speakers including musicians, artists, comedians, actors, politicians, civic and community leaders from all over Tarrant County. The event includes a cocktail reception, time with the special guest speaker, and then fabulous table conversation accompanied by a delicious dinner.
