Albuquerque Uptown Lions Club’s Bowling Tournament
The Albuquerque Uptown Lions Club held its annual bowling tournament at Skidz Bowling
Alley on Sunday, October 7, 2014. 12 teams participated. A great time was had by all. The money
raised goes to help the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
There was also a silent auction with great prizes including home baked bread and homemade
jam. (There was also a beautiful metal peacock that was donated and I made sure my bid was the
winning bid.)

$300 donation from Sandia Mountain Lions Club. The monies are needed for fees
to apply for a tax ID # and license under the name New Mexico Diabetes Awareness
Program and support the Strides Walk for Diabetes Awareness Health Fair scheduled

Peace Poster Contest Underway in District 40S
Peace Poster Time is here again! We had a beautiful poster winner from Ruidoso last year. The theme this
year is “Peace, Love and Understanding”, an idea much sought after these days. Go to lionsclubs.org to see
winners and finalists from last year to see how much young people aged 11 to 13 can put into an image of a
perfect world.
All you need to do to offer kids a chance to ponder the thoughts of “Peace, Love and Understanding”
is order a Peace Poster Kit for an official contest guide and rules, a flyer to give to participating students, a
sticker for the back of the winning poster, and certificates for the winner and the school or youth group who
provide the work of the contest. Let Lion Mary Jean Reese (575-394-3727, or [email protected] )
know that you are going to participate so she can be watching for your entry in the 40S contest.
You can order the kits from Club Supplies Sales Department at LCI until October 1. Just call them
at 630-571-5466 or 1-800-710-7822, or go online to Club Supplies and ask for a Peace Poster Kit. The cost
is only $11.95 plus shipping, handling etc. It is a project for your club that requires few funds and makes a
valuable connection to future Lions.
