The arch illuminating Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter acts as the gateway to the city. On November 7, this beloved San Diego landmark will once again become the sparkling centerpiece of the annual Gaslamp Gala.

Each year, civic leaders, business luminaries and property owners converge for the Gaslamp Gala to celebrate and support the thriving heart of downtown San Diego. This silver anniversary is an elegant culinary affair, held beneath the iconic Gaslamp Quarter sign, and has been hailed as one of the city’s most remarkable and distinctive hospitality experiences.

Proceeds from the Gaslamp Gala benefit the Gaslamp Quarter Association, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization that uses advocacy, community relations and promotional programs to promote and protect the business district for the prosperity of the association’s members.

Fifth Avenue is Downtown San Diego’s historic main street and the main corridor of the

premier dining and entertainment district. Having arrived at the end of the 1970s/1980s

era master plan lifecycle, the GQA Board has undertaken the vision to develop a new

master plan to guide the development of Fifth Avenue for the next generation. This

pedestrian promenade from Broadway to L Street will be open during specific times

of the day and night. Vehicular traffic will be permitted during pedestrian

off hours to service the neighborhood. The creation of the Gaslamp

Promenade will position itself to meet the social and recreational

needs of the growing San Diego community as well as

establish itself as a world-class destination.
