Setu Junior Wing
Volume 03 January - April 2019
We have come to the end of another academic year. The last
few months were dotted with a plethora of academic and
non academic events, activities, celebrations and learning
experiences. The last volume of Setu 2018-19 is here to give
you a glimpse of the events and activities our Shishyans
participated in.
Annual Events - Anugoonj & Pratibimb
Anugoonj saw the participation of around 750 students
from Sr. KG to Class V. The programme was a cornucopia of
talent and colour. It comprised the vandana, malakhamb,
the English plays Stone Soup and Planet Explorers, a dance
drama The Giving Tree, the mime, a group song and the
Hindi plays Rashmirathi and Arth ka Anarth. The
enchanting folk dances and the western dances, as usual,
filled the atmosphere with joy. The show was anchored by
the students of Class V which added a delightful dimension
to the evening.

The Shishyans and educators of the junior wing put up the
exhibition Pratibimb which included around 860 students from
Sr. KG to Class V. It was a spectacular event through which the
students presented their knowledge in an interactive and
creative manner. The exhibits truly contributed to the aesthetic
ambience of the junior school. Besides the academic displays of
the various subjects, the highlights of Pratibimb 2018-19 were:
the model of a Green Sustainable City - an exhibition of
plants with medicinal values
Yoga postures for relief from common ailments
the life of early humans in the stone age
the agricultural practices followed in our country
street plays (nukkad naataks)
the game show Kaun Banega Vidyapati
Ab Hai Naya Zamana which focused on new and exciting
endings of age old stories
live performances in the form of songs, stories and role plays
a host of thrilling games by all the departments
Handistaan - the exhibition of creative craft items
the vibrant displays of the Art & Clay department

In order to provide a break from routine activities, an
exhilarating adventure camp Saahas was organized
for the students of Classes II - V. The camp aimed at
helping our Shishyans to build team spirit, friendship
and trust through a multitude of familiar and
unfamiliar activities.

Our Shishyans of Sr. KG Red danced to the tunes of their
favourite song Chilli Chilli while the students of Sr. KG Yellow
performed on the foot tapping music of I am Happy.
The little ones of Sr. KG Pink enjoyed dancing with Choco Bear
in the background while the Shishyans of Sr. KG Blue welcomed
summer through their dance performance Ya Ya Mayaya.

The children wore multi coloured dresses to
represent the different states. They spoke a few
lines about the state they represented.

The boys of I E presented a Hindi skit ‘Akbar Birbal’’. The children
loved the character of Birbal for his wit and humour. The little
girls of I E danced merrily to the tunes of Aasma ko Chukar
Dekho.
The children of I F presented an action song titled Happy
Holidays. They were more than happy to welcome the summer
holidays. They also presented a fashion show exhibiting the
clothes and cultures of the different parts of the world.
The Shishyans of Classes I G and I H chose circus as the theme
of their class assembly. Body balancing, the barber’s act, hoola
hoop and the ribbon dance were the activities that the boys
performed while the girls mesmerized the audience with their
energetic dance performances.

Apart from the usual performances of the students, the
assemblies of Class II included stories which were narrated
by educators.
Anokha Ilaaj was a humorous story which talked about the
importance of staying fit.
The Shishyans of II B sang All things Bright and Beautiful
while a story on obedience was narrated by their educator.
There was another story to sensitize students about the
harmful effects of over exposure to electronic gadgets. A
video was also shown to reinforce the underlying message.
The little ones of II H welcomed the spring season through
their song Spring is Here. The story of Holika and
Hiranyakashyap was narrated by their Hindi educator while
their English educator shared wonderful ways of celebrating
Holi - in an eco-friendly way!
The children of II C performed a skit which conveyed the
message as you sow, so shall you reap. They also sang the
song Over in the Meadow.
The students of II E sang She’ll Be Coming Around the
Mountain while their educator narrated a story on the
importance of respecting elders and following their advices.

(Classes I - IV)

Through this exciting event, the children got an opportunity to
participate in the activity of their choice. Card Making, Best out
of Waste, Rangoli Making, Origami, Ikebana, Flameless Cooking
and Jewellery Making were the options to choose from. Here’s a
sneak peek of our little experts at work.
Kaleidoscope
(Sr. KG to Class II)

The students of III B, III E, III F and IV F chose Mahashivratri, the
harvest festivals, the Goa Carnival and Martyrs’ Day as the themes
of their assembly presentation.
The students of IV F presented a skit in Hindi based on
Mahashivratri. They clearly brought out the message that we can
please God through our honesty and sincerity towards our work
rather than by praying for long hours, visiting temples or fasting.
The vibrant dancers of III B gave the audience the feel of the Goa
carnival through their lively and well-coordinated dance Maria
Pitashi.
The Shishyans of III E expressed their gratitude to the scarecrow
through their melodious song Mera Tesu Yehi Khada . The song
emphasized on the role of scarecrows on the fields.
In order to commemorate Shaheed Diwas, the students of III F
performed an energetic dance Veer Bhagat Singh to pay a tribute to
Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.

The theme of the assembly presentation of Classes III C, IV D and IV E
was Holi - the festival of colours while III G presented an English skit
based on the great warrior king Shivaji.
The students of III C began the presentation with their jokes titled
Hassgulle which tickled the funny bone of the Shishyans. Their small
presentations were used as fillers which filled the auditorium with peals
of laughter. The little singers of III C also presented a song on Holi.
The melodious singers of IV E sang praises to Lord Krishna.
The lively dancers of IV D captivated the audience with their
breathtaking dance moves, impersonating Shri Krishna and the gopis.
The skit by the confident actors of III G was based on an incident from
Shivaji Maharaj’s life which depicted the respect he bestowed on
people who were brave and truthful. Thereafter, the graceful dancers of
III G paid homage to this great Maratha leader through their dance
performance Jai Shivaji.

Time to celebrate the good
times!
Tiffin Party Fun… Food… Sharing the joy of togetherness…
This was the underlying theme of the tiffin party
that marked the last day of the session for the
Shishyans of Class V. It was a memorable morning
for them and their educators as they shared their
fondest experiences of the junior wing and
excitedly discussed their expectations and plans for
the next year over scrumptious snacks.

Teacher Enrichment
Programmes
The month of April had two workshops lined up for our
educators. Mr. P. N Santosh from Telangana gave us an
insight into effective classroom management. He is an
expert in training and development and serves Tata Class
Edge as the General Manager for Operations & Sales.
Dr. Shailendra Gupta from Ahmedabad conducted a
workshop on integrating life skills in the curriculum. He
has more than 25 years of experience in education and
human resource development.

Inter-class Matches (Held in Shishukunj for Classes III - V)
The playgrounds and the indoor sports complexes of
Shishukunj radiated joy and excitement when our young
players participated enthusiastically in their inter-class
matches. Football, swimming, cricket, basketball, skating,
squash, badminton, table tennis and chess were the
different sports that the children participated in.

We are proud to share the achievements of our little champ Aviral
Agrawal of II B. He won a bronze medal at the MP State Karate
Championship 2019, organized by the Madhya Pradesh Karate
Association. He also won a silver medal at the Bharat Vijeta Karate
Cup Open National Championship 2018, organised by the Bharat
Karate Academy and a gold medal at the Indore District Karate
Championship, organised by the Indore District Karate Association.
