PROJECT SUMMARY

The K2 Erasmus + project ”All for Health and Health for All ” brings together 6 public schools from six European countries: Spain, Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland and Italy. Therefore, this project will be a good opportunity for transfer and exchange of experience regarding project management between partners (pupils, teachers and local communities and authorities).

The main aim of the project is to promote healthy nutrition, preserving traditional dishes, removing trick of obesity through sport and healthy environment conservation in a joint campaign in Europe.

We achieve our goal through two pathways:

1. by theoretical information-which will include information about nutrition and debate on the right to healthy and safe; the children of today are the adults of tomorrow, which is why we must engage in valuable experiences that will help them become informed citizens;

2. by practical activities (transnational volunteering, workshops, debate, seminar, exhibition, celebrations) performed by pupils, parents, teachers- the project will be an experience that will remain in the memory of the young people, teachers and families involved.

The project’s theme will be included in schools’ curricula (classes of science, civic education, geography, foreign languages, ICT, technical education, arts, music). Our project's target group is pupils from 6 to 15 years old. The staff will lead project's management strongly related to students by mixed working teams (boy and girls from all the partner's schools). The project's activities will involve teachers, pupil’s families, local authorities and communities, too, for a better impact and dissemination.

Final products: 2 E- magazine ”Children Save the Nature” and ” We choose Health”, Web-page, Blog, Facebook account, advertising leaflet, Brochure and DVDs with all the materials (final products, articles, movies, photos). All those will be use to disseminate the ongoing results and all the activities performed during the project.

Description of the school (English)

Our school is located in the city peripheries. It is made up of 15 teachers and about 220 students. It is

an Infant and Primary School so we have students from 3 until 12 years old. The families´ socio

cultural level is middle-low class and we sometimes do not have the necessary families support to

carry out many activities developed in our school. Unemployment has become one of the main

problems in this area and that is reflected in our students´ academic outcomes due to the lack

necessary equipment, in most of the cases.

We have never participated before in a European project, although some of our teachers, including

the Vice Principle and Accountant, have a very large experience on several previous Comenius

Projects. We consider this fact as a unique opportunity to involve the entire school community, to

share and exchange our experiences with other schools by participating in the project.

It's very difficult to develop a teaching work without the families support and this kind of projects can

be the connecting link between families and school.

In recent years, Tenerife has received a large number of immigrants from Latin America and

consequently we have in our school a considerable number of students from Bolivia, Colombia,

Ecuador, Russian, Chinese, Romanian, Brazilian students. In this sense, our students are very

conscious about an education for equality, accepting each different culture and showing interest in

learning about new ways of life.

Our school is daily used to deal with digital equipment and all our classrooms are equipped with

projectors controlled by individual laptops. We reinforce our students the ICT teaching and learning.

This project is also a challenge for our teachers who seek to bring Europe closer to our island.

great number of pupils belonging to different ethnical communities (Armenian, Macedonian, Rroma,

Jewish) and different religions (orthodox, Greco-catholic, Romano–catholic, muslins, mosaic and

others). All the pupils from our school are perfectly integrated in our school community.

We have a good experience on management of national and international school projects being

partners and coordinators. In the last years we participated in projects with intercultural topic which

had a great impact and success in our school in cooperation with different partners from our country

or abroad. This projects involved a great number of pupils and a lot of activities inside and outside of

school. We consider that it is very important and useful to share and exchange our experience by

participate in European project with other European schools by sharing the different curricula and

methods of teaching and learning. Taking into consideration all our previous projects had great

success, the pupils we have now in school and their parents desire to participate in this kind of

projects. The school is good at usage of digital equipment and they have quite well success in ICT

teaching and learning. Classrooms are also equipped with projectors controlled from a computer or a

laptop.

Our school policy is to stimulate the participation of our pupils in curricular and extracurricular

activities no matter the ethnical origin, religion, gender, social level. In addition, the pupils should be

connected to European pupils community because in this way they can develop cooperation,

friendship, tolerance, communication and information feed-back.

Description of the school (English)

We are a state lower secondary school in Starachowice. Our town is located halfway

between Poland's two biggest cities - Warsaw and Cracow, in a region of one of the

oldest mountains in Europe, Świętokrzyskie Mountains (Holy Cross Mountains). Our

school has got 241 pupils, aged 13-15, and 32 teachers. The school is located in the

newest district of our town and it is combined with a kindergarten, a primary school

and a modern sports hall. Our students are very good at sports, especially basketball

and volleyball. We have classes that specialize in sports and classes for students with

special needs. Our pupils learn three languages - English, German and recently Russian,

although English is the leading one.

Majority of our students come from underprivileged families, where low pay or

unemployment is rapidly becoming a barrier hindering their ability to fully take

advantage of social, cultural and educational resources and preventing young people

from accessing higher education altogether. Some years ago our town was home to the

largest truck manufacture in the country which was the driving force behind town's

economy, not only providing employment to the residents, but also supporting many

other nearby businesses. Sadly, with the demise of the industry most of its workers

found themselves in a desperate financial situation, which had a direct effect on young

people's functioning, perspectives, basic living skills and competence.

Description of the school (English)

SOU "Vladimir Komarov" is a general public school situated on the outskirts of Veliko Tarnovo, in a neighbourhood inhabited by working class families mostly. There are 232 students in the school from the age of 7 to 19, and 23 teachers. In addition to the sunny classrooms, the school has 3 classrooms equipped with computers for the students to study IT, an especially designed room for the pupils from the 1st to the 4th grade to have lunch in, a small library, a gym and a very good volleyball team.

In our school we have several students with special needs and also the students belong to different ethnic groups(Bulgarian, Turkish, Roma) and different religions(Orthodox, Islam).

Due to the relatively high unemployment certain number of people who live in the neighbourhood are compelled to seek and earn a living abroad and thus some of our students live with their grandparents which implies some emotional issues. That's why taking part in such a project will make our students feel Europe closer, see our continent as an united community and themselves, their parents and their families as a small part of that community. Also our students almost never have the opportunity to travel abroad and such a project will allow them to get in touch with foreign cultures, make friends there and thus enrich their lives.
