Timothy finds life-changing support through Activ Employment
When Albany employee
Timothy first came to Activ
he was struggling with
self-worth and confidence,
often feeling that he was
undervalued and didn’t
really belong.
Working at Activ changed
all that for Timothy. He
was given a chance to
use his initiative, follow
complex instructions
and work in a team. As a
result his self-confidence
flourished.
In June 2017, Timothy
completed his three-month
probation period at Activ
and the positive change
that this has had on his life
is immeasurable. Described
by one supervisor as easy
going and happy, with an
effervescent personality
and ‘can do’ attitude,
Timothy was delighted
to secure permanent
employment with Activ.
“Activ gave me a chance
and an opportunity to
prove my worth that I had
never before experienced in
employment,” he said.
The confidence gained
through employment also
helped him in other areas of
his life. He was able to deal
with personal issues more
effectively including taking
control of his finances and
managing his long-distance
relationship with his fiancé.
Most importantly, he was
able to reconnect with his
daughter, whom he speaks
of very fondly.
“I love coming to work at
Activ every day,” he said.
“It has changed my life for
the better and I now wake
up every morning with a
purpose.”
“It has changed my life for the better.”

Two millionth milestone for Activ and Kmart
In 2016, Activ employees
from Palmyra and East
Victoria Park celebrated
unpacking their two
millionth box for Australian
retail giant Kmart. Eight
years in the making, the
partnership has evolved
from a small contract at
the former Activ O’Connor
workplace to an ongoing
agreement. Twice a week,
Kmart provides meaningful
employment to more than
60 people with disability.
Employees from Activ’s
Bentley site regularly travel
to Kmart’s Distribution
Centre in Jandakot
where they spend the
day unpacking clothing
deliveries. The clothes are
then transported to Kmart
stores across the state.
“The first year we partnered
with Activ, we saw a 15%
increase in our productivity
which was outstanding,”
said Kmart Distribution
Manager, Michael Moulin.
“The team plays a really
important role in getting
our stock ready and on the
floor, which has led to a
significant increase in sales.
It’s a great relationship and
one that we really value.”
Activ employee Craig Cox
has worked with Kmart from
the very beginning and now
heads to the distribution
centre a couple of days a
week.
“I like working at Kmart and
making new friends.
I really enjoy the work.”

Chevron City to Surf for Activ
The Chevron City to Surf for Activ is Activ’s major
fundraising event. Established in 1975, the event
has cemented itself to be WA’s most loved sporting
event and has captured the hearts of generations
across its rich 44 year history. The Chevron City
to Surf for Activ reached its highest participation
numbers in 2013, with over 50,000 Western
Australian’s taking part. A figure that no other fun
run event has been able to achieve in WA.

disability over its 40+ year history, the event
celebrates the contribution people living with
disability make to our community, and the people
who support them.
The event also provides the opportunity for charity
fundraising and supports more than 140 charities
across WA.
We simply cannot achieve this result without the
valuable and much appreciated support from all our
sponsors throughout the series events. We welcome
organisations that would like to work with us and
help improve the lives of Western Australians living
with disability and their families. It is an amazing
opportunity for our Sponsors and Partners to meet
their social and ethical community responsibility by
taking part in this legacy event.
