Dear Eastminster Family,

It is easy, amid the festivities of holidays, to become so preoccupied with celebrating that we overlook that which we celebrate. There was a time, however, when proclaiming Jesus as Messiah or declaring ultimate loyalty to Him would get a person killed. Even today, there are places in the world where people are persecuted for daring to proclaim that Jesus has defeated death and sin.

This Sunday will be filled with celebration. Special dresses, tasty meals, time set apart for family, and even Easter baskets will brighten the day. All that is good. Enjoy the celebration. At the same time, let us not forget that which we celebrate. Almighty God has come into the world, lived for us and even died for our sin. In Jesus’ death and resurrection, he has con-quered sin and death so that we, too, may know true life.

Even in the face of the darkness of the daily news, even in the face of the darkness of death, we dare to believe Jesus when he says, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”

Life in Jesus is revolutionary, life-changing, even world-changing. That is the good news that draws us from near and far, to celebrate.

See you Sunday,

Brad

Through this Hunger Project, YoU are helping feed those hungry bellies. Two one-hour shifts are available: 4-5 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Children ages 6 and older can help package food at the event; child care will be provided to children 5 and younger. One Great Hour of Sharing - April 5A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share God’s love

with our neighbors-in-need around the world, by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, providing food to the hungry, and helping empower the poor and oppressed. When you give, you’re changing lives. Your gifts last year made it possible for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to assist 40 countries and 24 states to receive help for natural and human-caused disasters; Presbyterian Hunger Pro-

gram to assist 154,731 people who were living in extreme poverty and now have increased food security and livelihoods through international development work; and Self-Development of People to assist 4,619 children/parents to receive improved educational opportunities. Expressing our gratitude for the abundance and safety for our own lives and lifestyle, let’s all bring a little extra on Easter Sunday to share with others in desperate situations. Please use the Special Offering envelope in your envelope packet marked One Great Hour of Sharing, or write the offering name on your check memo line. Special offering envelopes are also available in the pews.

Hymnal DedicationsIf you would like to have a hard copy of the memorial/ hono-

raria hymnal dedications for the new sanctuary hymnals, copies are available in the narthex and in the reception area. You can also find the dedications listed on the website at www.eastmin-sterpres.org.
