The new Geary substation is complete. We are waiting on a transmission line interconnect to energize the substation.

November is a month of reflection, giving thanks and spending time with our families and friends. It is a time to real-ize how blessed we are to live in a free country.

We would like to thank our current director and employees who have have served in the armed forces.

Wes Beard - Air ForceMick Hart - MarinesStephanie Jones - Air ForceGene Peters - ArmyJerry Stroope - Army

We all have family & friends and acquaintances who are vet-erans. Veteran’s Day is Novem-ber 10th. Let them know on this day and all through the month that we appreciate their service and sacrifices to preserve our freedom.

Thank You Veterans!

Up-Grades continue at Cimarron

A huge crane is needed to lift the three blades to attach to the wind generator.

Cimarron’s line has to be re-routed under-ground so the big crane can be moved. We did this nineteen times for the wind farm east of Hennessey and west of Crescent.

It is amazing to see all the building and activity that is hap-pening at Cimarron Electric.

In addition to all the up-grades of our lines and substa-tions, we still have requests to move and in some cases, bury our lines.

That is the case for the wind farms that are being built on land close to our lines. The huge cranes that lift the wind mills can’t get under our overhead lines. They contract with us to go un-derground with our lines so they can move their cranes from one location to the next.

Sometimes the re-quest for up-grades happen before you finish another project.

The three phase line to the right was built with 1/0 alum. wire. The tempo-rary cross arms are holding those wires as new insulators and 477 wire is be-ing pulled in place to handle two, 2500 horsepower motors that are coming.

If you had electric service with Cimarron Electric Cooperative in 1987, you will be included in the retirement of capital credits for that year. Approximately $500,000.00 will be returned to members based on the amount of electricity they consumed in the year 1987. The checks will be mailed out in De-cember and should arrive before Christmas.

Capital Credit Checks Coming

Cimarron Electric’s office will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd & Friday, November 24th for Thanksgiving.

As always, we will have a crew ready if an emergency happens. Call us at 405-375-4121 or 1-800-375-4121.

40 ft.

Your safest option is to stay inside your vehicle until help arrives. The vehicle acts as a path for the electrical current to travel to reach the ground. You are safe inside the vehicle, but if you get out, you could be electrocuted.

Call 911 or your local electric utility for help.

IF A POWER LINE FALLS ON YOUR VEHICLE AND THERE IS A FIRE:

IF A POWER LINE FALLS ON YOUR VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO FIRE:

Only attempt to leave your vehicle if itis on fire.To exit safely:Jump out of the vehicle, making sure NO part of your body or clothing touches the ground and vehicle at the same time. Land with both feet together and in small, shuing steps, move at least 40 ft. away from the vehicle. The ground could be energized.Shuing away with both feet together decreases the risk of electrical shock.

Call 911 or your local electric utility for help.

WHAT TO DO:IF YOUR CARCRASHES INTOA UTILITY POLE

Accidents happen. Would you know what to do if your car crashed into an electric utility pole? Knowing what to do could be the dierence between life and death.

Always consider power lines and other electrical equipment to be live and dangerous!

Cook Up A Safe HolidayThe kitchen is the heart of the home. Sadly, it’s also where two out of every 5 home fires start. Many home fires occur during the holidays. This holiday season, Cimarron Electric and the Elec-trical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) urge you to use these tips.

* Never leave food cooking on the stove top. Turn off burners if you have to leave the room.

* Watch children closely in the kitchen. Make sure they keep at least 3 feet away from all cooking appliances.

* Prevent potential fires by keeping your stove top and oven clean and free of grease, dust and spilled food. Keep combustibles such as towels, napkins and pot holders clear of cooking areas.

* To protect from spills and burns, use the back burners and turn the pot handles in, away from reaching hands.

* Locate all electrical appliances away from the sink. Plug counter top appli-ances into ground fault circuit inter-rupter ( GFCI) protected outlets.

* Keep appliance cords away from hot surfaces like the range or toaster.

* Don’t wear loose sleeves when cook-ing. Loose clothing can catch fire.

* Unplug counter top appliances when not in use. Be sure to turn oven off when you’re finished cooking.

Community agencies provide emergency assistance with utility bills

There are a number of government agencies and charitable and religious organizations that offer assistance with utility bills; some of them offer assistance in different areas. If you realize you may have difficulty paying your electric bill, please contact our customer service representa-tive, Matt Crandall as soon as possible. We will make every effort to work with you to make pay-ment arrangements and hopefully avoid interrup-tion to your electric service.Call Matt at 405-375-4379 or 1-800-375-4121.
