Notes From the Pastor

My Dear Parishioners, This weekend, we take me out to honor all of our Veterans who have served our country faithfully. With the conten ousness that has been a part of recent months, I think it would do us well to remember what is good and right about our na on. These men and women have placed their lives on the line for our freedom and security. As an Airman, I salute those who serve and have served in the U.S. Air Force as well as those who serve and have served in our sister services, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard and the Na onal Guard and Reserve. Thank you, each of you, for your service and honor. It may be helpful to remember the defini on of a veteran: A veteran - whether ac ve duty, re red, or na onal guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America,” for an amount of up to and including THEIR LIFE. Take me this weekend to reflect on what makes this country great. Take me to pray for our veterans especially those who s ll serve on ac ve duty. Take me to thank a veteran for their service. You may find this poem helpful in your medita ons this week:

A Veteran’s Day Prayer

Dear Lord, Today we honor our veterans,

worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country.

We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the con nual struggle

to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us.

Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made, for their many different contribu ons

to America’s victories over tyranny and oppression. We respect them, we thank them, we honor them, we are proud of them,

and we pray that you will watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness.

In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen. --By Joanna Fuchs

Remember, if you have any ques ons about our faith, history or the Church, please feel free to send your ques-

ons to me at [email protected]. Your servant in Christ, Fr. John
