PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

MTA WORK DAYPlease join us April 21, 2018 to prepare the

Michigan Trapshooting Association grounds for a great shoot season 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – Lunch Provided

BRING YOUR GUN – OPEN SHOOTING AFTER

On behalf of the Board of Directors, employees and many volunteers for the Michigan Trapshooting Association we welcome everyone to the 2018 shooting events at the Michigan Trapshooting Association. We continue to make new improvements in the program and grounds to provide you with an enjoyable shooting experience.

The Board of Directors has been working throughout the winter months to promote and grow the positive aspects of our sport and to secure many items as special trophies. Through generous donors we will have the Mich-igan Three Gun Lewis, the Case of Ammo a Week for a Year prize, a Miss and Out contest, and several other cash awards.

We would like to present the newest inductees into the Michigan Trap-shooting Hall of Fame – James Doolittle and Andrew Suda. Shooters, past Hall of Fame Inductees, families and friends are invited to attend the award ceremony in the pavilion on Saturday June 30, 2018 after the singles championship.

The Hall of Fame continues to raise funds for a permanent climate con-trolled location to preserve our museum collection.

In closing I would like to thank all of the people who volunteer to help with the shoots; target setting, classification, shoot referees, and those who help new shooters get started.

I would like to thank the Board of Directors of Michigan Trapshooting Association for allowing me the honor and privilege of serving as President of our Association. It is their work and sacrifices that make the Michigan Trapshooting Association one of the best trapshooting grounds in the United States

Sincerely

Larry Telfer President

MTA HALL OF FAME & MUSEUMThe MTA Hall of Fame & Museum had another successful year in 2017. Generous donations from Michigan trapshooters and their families expanded the museum collection and raised funds to preserve our trapshooting heritage. Come on over to the 2018 MTA shoots and be sure to stop in the clubhouse and check out the new museum displays. We are thrilled to announce the 2018 Hall of Fame inductees – James Doolittle and Andrew Suda. These men have earned this honor through their many shooting ac-complishments and their support of Michigan trapshooting. All are invited to attend the Hall of Fame Ceremony and celebrate their accomplishments at our State Shoot on June 30, 2018.The Hall of Fame & Museum Board is grateful for the generous donations in 2017. This money will be used to pay for the annual Hall of Fame ceremony, ongoing museum artifact preservation and displays, to fund the scholarship program, and future capital projects. Fund raising events in 2018 will include 50/50s, gun raffles, and the annual silent auction at our State shoot. Donations of silent auction items are being accepted now and are appreciated. The first Michigan Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame College Scholarship will be awarded at the 2018 State Shoot in conjunction with the Michigan State Team presenta-tion. We are accepting applications for the 2019 scholarships now. Current high school-ers graduating in 2018 or 2019 may apply. (Coaches - let your youth shooters know this money is available.) Scholarship applications can be found on the Michigan Trapshooting Website (Michigantrap.com), at the MTA home grounds, or by contact-ing any Hall of Fame Board Member. Please submit your application by the last day (July 1, 2018) of the Michigan State Trapshooting Championships, to be considered for the Scholarship(s) in 2019. The existing facilities at the MTA grounds do not provide the appropriate climate control to preserve the Hall of Fame and Museum artifacts, exhibits, and photos. Each year, all items are removed from the clubhouse and stored over the winter. We are reluctant to ac-cept additional items to grow the museum collection until we have appropriate housing. The HOF Board of Directors and MTA Board of Directors have been discussing ways to provide a permanent Hall of Fame & Museum area to preserve our collection year-round. Preliminary bids indicate the cost will be $45,000 to $50,000 to renovate part of the clubhouse for this purpose. This cost is beyond our current resources. We are considering ways we can accomplish this goal. We are asking for your input. If you are a general contractor, electrician, framer, or any other building trade specialist, we would love to hear your ideas and would ap-preciate your help. Anyone interested in helping with this project is invited to contact a MTA board member or HOF board member. MTA is a 501c3 organization. Contribu-tions are tax deductible to the extent of the law.The MTA Hall of Fame & Museum activities would not be possible without the generous donations and support from trapshooters and the volunteers who help with events. Thank You to all who support the MTA Hall of Fame & Museum. Best wishes for a successful 2018 shooting year. MtA HAll of fAMe & MuseuM BoArd of directors

This rule shall not be interpreted to affect the right of all contestants whose score qualifies them from shooting off for the Championship Trophy in any event. Championship Trophy, for the purpose of this rule, means the trophy awarded to the highest scoring event winner. It does not mean class champions, special category champions or any other trophy than the high score winner and runner-up.2. Leader-to-date listings are displayed on the video monitors in the main cafeteria building and scoreboard annex to allow shooters to track potential shoot-offs. Shooters are advised to note where special category shooters may have high score/tie in class and special cat-egory. It is possible that a score lower than broadcast on the video display monitors may be involved in a shoot-off.3. Trophy ties in all handicap events will be shot off after the last event of each day. Trophy ties in singles and doubles events will be carried over to the next like event on the regular program whenever possible, and shot off by sub-event. If the program does not indicate a carryover for singles or doubles events, the trophy ties will be shot off after the last event each day.4. Contestants in shoot-offs will be called over the public address system to report to the designated check-in area. Anyone in a tie who does not answer the call for shoot-offs will forfeit rights to any trophy.5. The trophy room is located at the east end of the cafeteria. It will be opened each day of the shoot at times determined by the Directors. Trophies will not be mailed.

6. Lists of unclaimed trophies are posted in the trophy room and the squading room. The M.T.A. will make every effort to get trophies to the winners. However, any trophies for the year not picked up by the end of the next shoot will be forfeited. Fall Team Trophies not picked up during the Fall Team Shoot can be picked up during the next year’s Spring Team Shoot. After that the trophies are forfeited. 7. Pins and Patches: Anyone breaking 100 or 200 straight without carryover for the first time at the Michigan home grounds will be awarded a State Pin. Only one pin will be awarded to any individual. Please inquire at Squading.

MAKE-UPSAny shooter missing all or part of a round should report to the practice traps for a make-up sheet, and make up the round(s) no later than 10 minutes after the last squad in that event has completed the event. Make-up rounds will be shot alone or with other make-up shoot-ers. If the make-up is not shot within 30 minutes after the event, all targets not fired at will be scored zero. No shooter can make-up more than 50 targets on the practice trap. They must re-squad or forfeit.

FEES1. Fees – Daily Fees: A.T.A. $3.00, M.T.A. $3.00. Payments may be by check (exact amount only) or cash in U.S. funds only. Payment by credit card is not available.
