WHAT IS A PROMOTIONAL EXAM?A promotional exam consists of a written and skills test. Based

on the UFH promotion policy, nurses promotion to the next level is contingent upon having the requisite experience at UFH and passing the promotion process.

What the promotional exam includes: 1 written test (100 questions)• General nursing questions- 50• Specialty nursing questions- 25• Leadership nursing questions- 25 ( Level 3 and 4 candidates only)

1 simulation test (chosen at random)

FOCUS GROUPSInvolve getting together a small number of nurses 4-12 people

to determine areas of educational need by using a group discussion to identify areas of knowledge about a certain topic• System 1: Cardiac• System 2: MED SURG• System 3: PEDS

One facilitator leads a discussion by asking questions that are open ended to encourage detailed discussion

Focus groups are ideal during the initial stage of information gathering to provide qualitative data for a complete assessment of learning needs
