Waterproofing membranes can be, and unfortunately often are, damaged after installation. And a damaged membrane is compromised as far as performing as a water barrier. This is due to negligent construction practices – membranes need to be protected from untoward. Damage can occur from sharp stones during back filling or landscaping, traffic and tools from construction trades. F.E.W WATERPROOFING Phone: 03 881 2 2918TRANSCRIPT

Who pays to fix a waterproof membrane damaged during construction?
Delaminated membrane due to improper aftercare on-site
Membranes completely destroyed following abuse
from trades.
- someone (????) placed tarp over fresh membrane & then weighed down with steel and timber !!!
- Flashing was not installed at the correct time.
Tarp stuck to waterproofing membrane
All too often construction trades working over the top of newly installed waterproofing membranes do not take enough care.
- Stacking materials and /or rubbish on a new membrane.
- Loading plasterboard or other materials over membranes.
- Placing ladders on top.
- Plumbers dropping metal off-cuts from above.
- Water splashed on new membranes i.e de-watering.
- Pieces of metal get trampled into the membrane - pop rivets, nails, screws, bikes, small cars ..............you get the idea.
Second layer of membrane delaminated

What a beautiful membrane
After trades have worked over a membrane –
regardless of instructions
WHAT A MESS !!!!!!
The disaster that started this post – electrician has *torn* away the waterproof membrane to install conduit!
So don't ruin a perfectly good waterproof
membrane due to on-site carelessness.
Repairing waterproofing membranes can be
expensive and hold up ongoing construction works.
