Waterfield Primary School Community News Update 19th June 2020 Dear Families, We have been very busy at school trying to accommodate increased key workers and our children in year groups EYFS,1 & 6 who have requested to return for our provision. It has been lovely to hear the school ring out again with the sound of children busy learning. As part of our endeavour to get the children back to school a number of excing developments have been happening: Year 5 – Next week we will be starng our Year 5 Tutorials – these short in school sessions will enable our Year 5 children to re-connect and get ready for the demands of future Year 6. Please note that these Tutorials are only for 2 hours over 2 days and will be used to support Home Learning. While we would have liked to have bring more children back – the start of these Tutorials has now maximised both our staff and facilies to capacity. I appreciate there has been some anxiety regarding the children returning to school in September, whilst we do not yet know what this will look like I am hopeful ALL children will be back with us in September. In order to prepare for this we will be closing our Key Worker, Early Years, Year 1 & 6 provisions on Friday 10 th July. The next academic week (our final one before the Summer Holi- days) W/C July 13 th we will be offering the chance for ALL children to aend a session with their NEW class teacher and will be making personal calls to ALL families from the NEW class teacher. As you can imagine this will be quite feat of logiscs (to keep everyone safe) and therefore that is why, unfortunately, we are unable to offer Key Worker care that week. I am also hopeful we will be able to offer some provision for Year 6 in order that they can say goodbye and reconnect before their next adventure to secondary school. Please note I am already in discussion with the PTA with regard a Year 6 reunion next academic year when situaons have hopefully improved. More informaon regarding all of these developments will come over the next 3 weeks, rest assured we will be providing plenty of noce, reviewing safety requirements and trying our best to add transion for the next academic year. Finally a quick reminder, the school gates to the car park are now opened for an extended me – PLEASE if you arrive at the front of the school stay on the path – we have a lot of traffic accessing school and I urgently remind everyone to stay on the pavements and not cut across where the traffic is pulling up. Community News Update

19th June 2020

Dear Families,

We have been very busy at school trying to accommodate increased key workers and our children in year groups EYFS,1 & 6 who have requested to return for our provision. It has been lovely to hear the school ring out again with the sound of children busy learning.

As part of our endeavour to get the children back to school a number of exciting developments have been happening:

Year 5 – Next week we will be starting our Year 5 Tutorials – these short in school sessions will enable our Year 5 children to re-connect and get ready for the demands of future Year 6. Please note that these Tutorials are only for 2 hours over 2 days and will be used to support Home Learning.

While we would have liked to have bring more children back – the start of these Tutorials has now maximised both our staff and facilities to capacity.

I appreciate there has been some anxiety regarding the children returning to school in September, whilst we do not yet know what this will look like I am hopeful ALL children will be back with us in September. In order to prepare for this we will be closing our Key Worker, Early Years, Year 1 & 6 provisions on Friday 10th July. The next academic week (our final one before the Summer Holi-days) W/C July 13th we will be offering the chance for ALL children to attend a session with their NEW class teacher and will be making personal calls to ALL families from the NEW class teacher. As you can imagine this will be quite feat of logistics (to keep everyone safe) and therefore that is why, unfortunately, we are unable to offer Key Worker care that week. Please note I am already in discussion with the PTA with regard a Year 6 reunion next academic year when situations have hopefully improved. More information regarding all of these developments will come over the next 3 weeks, rest assured we will be providing plenty of notice, reviewing safety requirements and trying our best to add transition for the next academic year.

Finally a quick reminder, the school gates to the car park are now opened for an extended time – PLEASE if you arrive at the front of the school stay on the path – we have a lot of traffic accessing school and I urgently remind everyone to stay on the pavements and not cut across where the traffic is pulling up.

Please keep happy, safe and #stayconnected on our Twitter.

Safe Driving And Parking around the school

Anyone in your family can represent your house so get everyone involved!

Prizes will be awarded to the winning house and individuals in every year group.

Good luck!

Challenge 1: Shuttle Run - How many in 60seconds?

Set out 2 markers 3 metres apart.

Count how many times you can run between them in

60 seconds.

Remember: you must put your foot on or

over the marker for it to count.

Challenge 2: Target Throw - How many in 60seconds?

Place a piece of A4 paper (anything about that size will do) on the floor. Put a marker down 2metres

away from it.

Using a ball (a pair of rolled up socks will do) count how many times you can hit the paper in 60 seconds. It cannot

bounce first.

Remember: you are only allowed one ball so you must collect it after every throw and you cannot get someone to

help you.

Challenge 4: Racket Bounce - How many in total?

You will need a ball and a racket. It can be any type of ball and any type of racket. If you

have neither you can improvise with a book/frying pan/baking tray and a rolled up pair of

socks/toilet roll.

Count how many times you can bounce the ball on the racket before it hits the

floor.

Remember: all other surfaces (wall or ceiling) count as the floor.

Challenge 3: Star Jumps - How many in 30seconds?

Stand with your legs together and your arms by your

side.

When your timer says ‘Go’ jump so your arms extend out and your legs

come off the floor into a star shape.

Count how many times your feet touch the floor after every star jump.

Remember: you must extend both your arms and legs for it to be a star

jump!
