Slide 1Water water everywhere not a drop to drinkGarbage found everywhere how much it stinks
Shortage of electricity, petrol and even foodPlight of environment is not at all goodGood morning respected jury members and my dear friends.
Slide 2Well, in a city like Delhi, water and electricity shortages are verycommon. In such situations the government blames the municipality, who in turn blame someone else and so on. In all this blame game, themost important question is never asked: Why there is a shortfall? Theanswer is climate change and the culprit is the mankind.
Slide 3If we have done this, we only have to find a solution to it and therefore
let us have a look how our forefathers used to lead an eco friendly lifeand existed in symbiosis with environment.
Slide 4Cow dung is being used in rural India since centuries and today it canalso change the shape of the modern world.Cow dung helps in improving the soil texture. When mixed with mudand water, it increases the water absorbing capacity of mud. Further, smoldering of cow patties keeps away insects and mosquitoes in aneco friendly manner.
Slide 5Biogas has been emerged as an important by-product of cow dung due
to its eco friendly nature and high calorific value. It is an essential wayto minimizing the waste generated.
Slide 6 The word ‘Neem’ is very common in traditional India, not only due to
its medicinal qualities but due to its unique quality of keeping thetermites away. Neem powder in ceiling of houses is beneficial
Slide 7 The way of celebrating festivals has changed over the years. Now holiis all about synthetic colours and diwali is a showbiz of crackers andlightening.
Slide 8
Therefore we can use herbal gulaal which is again eco-friendly, nontoxic and non irritant to skin.
Slide 9In early days, construction of houses was done in such a way that
ensured proper ventilation and lighting. In today’s world, it can reduce our energy consumption and electricity
bills and hence help in saving the environment.Slide 10

Water shortages in ancient times were met by a very effective way of capturing rainwater through rainwater harvesting. This not only helped
them to meet our water demands but also helped them to cool theirhomes by making bowlis.
Slide 11
These days women use tattoos and lipsticks for makeup and men use arange of deodorants which release CFCs.Slide 12
All this can be done in a natural way by using itra and henna. Theireffects are long lasting plus there are no side effects
Slide 13Ancient India was famous for its earthen materials such as kullad, pots
and idols. Today we can again bring back the traditional India whichwould help us to fight climate change. Earthen idols could be easilydissolved in water than POP idols. Also, they prevent the lake from
drying.
Slide 14Kullad & baked earthen pots keeps water cool and thus reduces the
usage of refrigerators.Slide 15
Man has a symbiotic relationship with environment. What he does toenvironment he does to himself. We have exploited natural resources
to maximum and also polluted surroundings. The result is climatechange. Now it is to us, which way to go. Choosing the wrong will bring
you a DEAD END
