BACKWASHING

1. Water is drained to a level that is above the surface of the

filter bed.

2. Compressed air is pushed up through the filter materialcausing the filter bed to expand breaking up the compacted

filter bed and forcing the accumulated particles into

suspension

3. Clean backwash water is forced upwards through the filterbed continuing the filter bed expansion and carrying the

particles in suspension into backwash troughs suspended

above the filter surface.

REGENERATION

1. Backwash resin bed (for Mixed-bed polisheronly) to remove suspended solids and

decompact the bed.2. Inject regenerant diluted in appropriate water

quality.3. Displace the regenerant with dilution water at

the same flow rate.4. Rinse the bed at service flow rate with feed

 water until the desired treated water quality isobtained.
