What is water testing?• Water testing is about the 7
tests we do
• Dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, fecal coliform, turbidity, and nitrates
• Test D.O. to see if oxygen in water
• Test temperature to see how hot or cold water is
D.O. results
• D.O. result much better in October than February
• Optimal Standard = >9 mg/l
Temperature
• Better October than February
• Optimal levels for hatching salmon = <48 degrees F
• Or 9 degrees C
B.O.D. results
• Both results bad
• Optimal standards = >6mg/l
Fecal Coliform
• February’s results = much better
• Optimal standards = <50 colonies/100ml
pH
• Both good for February and October
• Optimal standards = 7-8
Turbidity
• October’s result = much better than February’s
• Optimal standards = <20 JTU’s
Nitrates (as nitrogen)
• October’s result = much better than February’s
• Optimal standers = <1 mg/l
Total solids
• October’s result = much better than February’s result
• Optimal standards = <25 mg/l
