Introduction2000 liters water tank near social park collapsed recently.Here are some findings regarding that collapse
Causes and its consequences are discussed in this presentation
Purpose of this presentation document is to make a reference document such that in future such things doesn’t happen again
Causes of collapseCause no 1The constructed cemented structure was not properly
watered
Due to this following thing[s] happened
Between the Cement base and internal Basalt(Murum) layer, there was a gap developed
Causes of water tank collapseCause no 2Cement usage was less and cement was not tested in
terms of force per cubic cm
ConsequencesThe constructed cement structure was weaker and was
not able to hold the desired loadDue to air gap developed between cement and basalt
layer, it could not bear the load

The whole load was concentrated on just one pointDue to this load , the base of cemented structure cracked
and the fabricated structure on which the tank was placed was unbalanced

ConsequencesThe load increased beyond tolerance and the cement
base cracked thus resulting in collapsed structure

Precautions to be taken in future The iron stand should have larger size plates
Advantages:- Load bearing capacity will increase Use of adequate amount of cement
Advantages: - Constructed structure will be firm Too much capacity tank installing should be avoided
unless and until the base is not firm Special precaution necesscary for constructing such
type of structures
