THESE MILLAGES COVER THE OPERATING COSTS OF THE

JEFFERSON PARISH WATER AND SEWERAGE DEPARTMENTSIt is the sole source of funding for all Jefferson Parish Water Department major construction projects and it

helps fund the daily operation and maintenance of Jefferson Parish’s Sewerage System. Without this funding,

Jefferson Parish would not be able to maintain or upgrade its aging water and sewer infrastructure.

Water Department Capital Budget Complex Sewer System

There are 150,406 total water accounts in Jefferson

Parish. This millage funds the Water Department's

Capital Budget, which includes improvements in the

water treatment plants and their intakes and the

replacement of aging and broken water lines.

There are over 1,300 miles of sewer gravity lines,

hundreds of miles of sewer pressure pipe, more than

500 lift stations, 5 treatment plants which treat

approximately 57,000,000 gallons of wastewater on a

daily basis and an estimated 21,120 manholes .
