The AVK offer of plastic stop taps can be

adapted to copper pipe using the AVK Pentomech copper kit.


The AVK PENTOBOX range now incorporating a gunmetal contaminated manifold model, ductile lid version and Double Pentobox is manufactured by AVK Plastics in theNetherlands. Stock is held at our National Distribution Centre in Corby, Northamptonshire.

The AVK Pentobox has been designed for a faster more flexible fit and keeps working long into the future. The AVK Pentobox push-fit joints when used with standard PE allow an easy connection which can be de-mounted by unscrewing the nut. The O-ring seal will ensure a reliable connection when the pipe is inserted.

Height adjustment can be easily achieved for re-instating by adjusting the telescopic sliding guard. The surface box also has a 7° degree angle of tilt and if installing the single box Grade

B composite version, the composite surface box can withstand a class leading 8 tonne load.

The AVK Double Pentobox incorporates the main features and benefits of the single with two side by side manifolds. In addition installing an AVK Double Pentobox results in less disruption to the integrity of the footpath surface, a better aesthetic, and a reduction in any potential health and safety hazard. It also reduces the time of installing and backfilling.

The AVK Inline Pentobox has been designed for an Inline meter and minimises the head loss, aiding future maintenance and with many of the same features of the Double Pentobox.

The AVK PENTOMECH16 bar mechanical fittings for pressure piping applications are designed with an innovative Balance Sealing System. This feature offers a technical solution whereby the tightening of the nut improves the seal performance, with the extra benefit of maximum reliability in all possible conditions of use. Keeping the basic features of easy and fast assembly without any particular preparation of the pipe.

Tightening the nut moves the gasket deeper in to the fitting

1. Prepare pipe and unscrew nutCut the pipe square and remove the burrs; Up to 63mm use a PE liner. For sizes d≥75mm, chamfer the pipe. Unscrew the nut to the last thread, leave it on the fitting while inserting the pipe.

2. Insert pipe up to the first pipe stopTwist the pipe into the fitting through the grip ring to the first stop: the pipe has reached the conical gasket

The conical seal has two opposite lips that allows:• Easier pipe insertion• Keeps the gasket seal suitably located in

the radial body of the fittings• Keeps the gasket seal in contact with

fitting body and the pipe wall (large contact pipe surface)

3. Insert pipe up to the body pipe stopPush the pipe through the gasket to the second stop, you have reached the pipe stop, with incorporated ribs within the fitting.

When first inserted past the gasket, the pipe sits in the body of the fitting. After insertion the pipe does not reach directly the body pipe stop, it also remains a little raised from the pipe stop thanks to the internal ribs in the body.

4. Tighten the nutTighten the nut firmly by hand or standard tool up to 32mm. Above d≥40mm use a standard tool or dedicated wrench.

Tightening the nut exerts pressure on the thrust ring which in turn increases pressure on the gasket seal and also moves the pipe to the second stop in the body. This action sits the gasket seal deeper into the fitting moving it radially and increasing its compression on the pipe wall. The tightening of the nut, within the constraints of the dimensions and performance standards of pipe means the balance sealing system compensates for pipe which may be under sized, scored or suffering from ovality.

The AVK PENTOMECH Universal range is a must have when carrying out a repair! It allows the installer complete flexibility when connecting a pipe up to 35mm in diameter.

As part of the range there is the AVK PENTOMECH Universal coupling and elbow with a PE outlet and also a Universal x Universal coupling and elbow. This allows you to connect on to lead, galvanised steel, copper, PVCU, imperial polyethylene and metric PE. Please note: a liner should be used when making the metric PE joint.

Match the Universal fitting with the outside dimension (mm) of the pipe material in the tolerance range of the fitting.

1. Cut the pipe at 900 (square cut). When possible is it recommended to bevel the edges of the cut in order to make the insertion easier.

2. Slacken the nut without removing it from the body. In case the internal components are disassembled, please follow the assembly instructions opposite for the kit components.

3. Insert the pipe without tightening the nut. Push the fitting until the pipe reaches the stop.

4. Hand tighten the nut and then tighten further with a pipe wrench, do not screw the universal nut without pipe.

The universal kit allows you to transform any metric offtake into a universal fitting. The steps involved in the assembly are:

A. Disassemble all the components of the PE metric offtake to transform: nut, grip ring, thrust ring and gasket. Prepare the components of the universal kit (1-2-3-4)

B. Insert the universal sealing ring (4) into the body (5) until the upper edge is like in picture (B). Due to the existing friction, sealing ring insertion may require additional effort.

C. Place the universal insert (3) so that it is positioned above the sealing ring as shown in picture (C).D. Place the universal grip ring (2) above the insert (3) as shown in picture (D). E. Place the universal nut (1) and tighten clockwise by just one screw thread, leaving it prepared for pipe insertion as shown in picture (E). Do not

screw the universal nut without pipe inserted.

AVK PENTOPUSH is a new patented range of composite push fittings combining the safety and strength of a traditional mechanical fitting with the user-friendliness of a standard push-in fitting.

The installation of the AVK PENTOPUSH happens in one simple move, requires no tools and no complicated preparation of the pipe. Just cut the pipe squarely, insert the pipe liner and insert, with a slight twist, into the fitting. The result is a strong, firm and long-lasting connection between the pipe and the coupling.

Research and DevelopmentThe AVK PENTOPUSH range of fittings is the result of comprehensive work undertaken by the R&D department. The goal was to develop a user-friendly push-in fitting with focus on strength, performance and quality.

Function DescriptionThe design of the new fitting ensures that the pipe enters the fitting easily, avoiding the need for a high push-in force. As the pipe enters the fitting, the push back ring moves in the opposite direction, compressing the O-ring as the clamp ring grips the pipe. This ensures a leak tight connection - even under low pressure conditions. The same happens when you tighten the nut in an ordinary mechanical fitting. The main difference is that everything happens in one move, without the need for tools.

Main ApplicationsThe AVK PENTOPUSH range of push-fit fittings are designed for clean and dirty water applications including repairs and connections. AVK PENTOPUSH is for PE to PE joints. Use the AVK PENTOPUSH Universal for PE to lead, copper, steel, galvanised steel, PVCU and imperial PE. All cold water related connections are possible including freezing water from -20°C using a glycol (Ethanol) systems to 40°C.

This material combines the strength of metal, with the corrosion resistant characteristics of a thermoplastic material, and gives outstanding mechanical strength in threaded connections.

PRODUCTINFORMATION


1. Mark the installation depth on the pipe. The correct depth is indicated on each fitting. Cut the pipe as squarely as possible, checking that it is clean and free from damage. Install the liner.

2. Insert the pipe into the fitting with a slight twist. The twisting action reduces the installation force required to make the joint. No tools required.

PS: The pipe is fully inserted when the installation mark lines up to the edge of the fitting.

DISMANTLING AND RE-USEOpen the sleeve with a proper tool, like a pipe wrench. Pull the pipe out of the fitting. Remove the push-back ring, O-ring, the grip ring and sleeve from the pipe.

The following components must be replaced if the fitting is to be reused:• Sleeve• Grip ring• O-ring• Push-back ring

The new components have to be assembled in the following order:1. Push back-ring2. O-ring3. Grip ring4. Sleeve

Tighten the sleeve by hand, and after use a pipe wrench to lock the position.

1. Cut the pipe squarely, check that the pipe is clean and free from damage.

2. Check that the nut on the adapter is totally open to ensure that the O-ring has no compression. Insert the pipe into the universal end.

3. Tighten the nut by hand, then tighten 360° with tool. (Min 12NM) For the larger dimensions (1114-323550-16-10 and 1114-504963-16-10) we recommend two revolutions with tool.

The AVK PENTOBOX Universal range has the added advantage in offering a quick solution, a must have when carrying out a repair, as it allows the installer complete flexibility when connecting a pipe up to 63mm in diameter. The new AVK PENTOTAP range of swivel ferrules and self tapping saddles ferrules are tried and tested methods of tapping into the water main. If the water main is made from PVC, PE or even asbestos the appropriate self-tapper allows this to be done without the need to hire specialist equipment or the expertise to make electrofusion joints.

The AVK PENTOTAP range of swivel ferrules and self tapping saddle ferrules allow an easy trouble free connection, with a 360° rotation from the swivel banjo outlet which is available as a push-fit joint for PE or female threaded outlet. Female threaded outlets allow flexibility on to new or existing services using a AVK PENTOMECH or AVK PENTOPUSH adaptor.

The range also incorporates polypropylene saddles which allow connections on to PE. These are not for live connections.

ApplicationThe AVK PENTOTAP range will give installers the flexibility of making connections in many main pipe materials PE, PVC, AC, steel, ductile and cast iron. The self-tapping range allows live tapping. The PVC/PE cutter retains the coupon after the tapping operation. PVC/PE and stainless steel cutters can be used as shut-off valves once live. This then allows branch connections in d20-d32mm push-fit PE and also ½" – 1" Female threaded. Swivel ferrules are used with a threaded tapping machine and can also be installed live with outlets up to d32mm PE and 1" BSP Female. In new systems which are not live the polypropylene range of saddles are a cost effective way of making branch connections.
