Benefits to San Diego Region Prop. 1 invests in “backbone” water
infrastructure, like new storage and creates greater resiliency in communities to withstand drought through new water supply development
Potable reuse Non-potable water recycling Desalination Water use effi ciency
Each issue raised by the Water Authority over the course of the legislative deliberation was satisfactorily addressed
Of the funds regionally allocated within Proposition 1, the San Diego region receives 11% of total funds, which is an equitable and proportional funding allocation to the region
Much credit and thanks to the San Diego delegation (Assembly and Senate) for their perseverance in representing San Diego in the process

10
Integrated Regional Water Management
Increase reliable water supplies, improve water quality and protect natural resources
IRWM is the state’s “preferred method of funding” local water supply effortsHigh priority for state since 2002,
through 3 administrations, 3 bond measures and 3 Water Plan updates
A mechanism through which San Diego Region is eligible for substantial grant funding
11
IRWM governance
12
What is an IRWM project? An integrated, multi-
benefit water management projects that achieves one or more of these goals: Optimize water
supply reliability Protect and enhance
water quality Provide stewardship
of our natural resources
