This free mulching service helps you dispose of larger branches that are not suitable for your kerbside organics bin.

Up to 4 cubic metres of material accepted per household. No commercial quantities or materials from vehicles with commercial branding will be accepted. Proof of Hume residency required. Mulch is available to take home after a mulching day. If you would like to collect some mulch this can be done after 2.45pm. Mulch serves several purposes. It helps to suppress weeds, slows moisture evaporation, improves soil texture and helps moderate soil temperatures.

Christmas Tree MulchingAdditional mulching days will be held in the first week of January to help with the disposal of Christmas trees. Visit Council’s website for details.

Collection Map - How to use the maps

When is my collection date?

Find the area you live in on the previous pages. Match the colour on the map where you live to the calendar below.

Your garbage is collected every week on the day listed and the calendar shows the dates for your recycling collection. Your organics bin will be collected on the alternate fortnight to your recycling bin.

For example, if you live in Sunbury you can check the Sunbury map for the area you live in. If you live in the northern areas of Sunbury your garbage collection will be a Wednesday each week and your recycling collection will be a Wednesday Week 2 collection - so follow the dark purple schedule in the calendar below.

The calendar on the following page can be used as a quick reference guide and be placed on your fridge.

If you are unsure of when your collection day visit ‘Know your bin day’ on the Council’s website.

Please note that collections may start earlier on days of extreme heat.
