and disposal of waste

from the commercial,

industrial, or other

non-residential sectors.

Waste is to be managed

by the individual

business/property owner.

Contraventions to the Waste Management By-Law 769-07 will be closely monitored and fines of $500 issued to those individuals/businesses found in violation.

GARBAGE & RECYCLING DO's & DON'TS

Do not place residential or

business garbage inside, or

around, litter receptacles.

These receptacles are meant

for pedestrian traffic only.

Do place recycling curbside on

Tuesday only, unless private

arrangements have been made

with EWSWA and WDS.

Do ensure access to private

collection bins is restricted to

those businesses using the bin

and that the bin has regularly

scheduled pick-ups to minimize

odour and vermin concerns.

Do not litter or illegally dump.

Do not place garbage curbside on

any day besides Tuesday for

residential properties or Friday for

those businesses using the bag

tag system.

Recycle containers are collected bi-weekly on

Tuesday’s by WDS and should be placed curbside

the night before, or no later than 6:00 am on the

day of collection.

Acceptable containers include the mini-recycle

boxes (blue & red), regular recycle boxes

(blue & red), or recycle carts with North American

lift mechanism.

How Do I Manage My Recycling?

Container recycling should be

collected in the Blue Box and

includes plastic bottles/jugs, glass

bottles/jars, plastic tubs/lids,

plastic trays/cups, aluminum/metal

cans, aluminum foil, empty paint

and aerosol cans and empty

milk/juice/soup cartons.

Paper recycling should be

collected in the Red Box and

includes newspaper, magazines,

catalogues, telephone books,

office paper, egg cartons,

toilet/paper towel tubes, paper

bags, paper food containers and

cardboard.
