Job Description Vehicle Servicing Crew (Washrack) General Accountability Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, and Manager, Service Delivery, vehicle servicing crews (otherwise known as “Washrack”) are responsible for the fuelling and cleaning of the interiors and exteriors of any vehicle that is owned, operated or leased by the Company and/or its Authority (BC Transit Corporation). Washrack will be required to clean vehicle engines, wheels, undercarriage and occasionally vehicles components that have been removed from the vehicles for servicing and or repair. Washrack employees must have a Class 1, 2 or 5 license with Air Brake Endorsement as they will be required to move and operate any of the company vehicles they are directed to clean. Washrack is an entry-level position for Transit Operations. Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities In addition to all qualifications required expected of a Transit Operator, Transit Operator must be familiar with, and understand how to safely operate, any mechanical/electrical power washing or cleaning equipment that is provided by the Company for cleaning purposes including but not limited to: vacuum cleaners, upholstery cleaners, powered exterior Washrack, hot water or steam pressure washing equipment, solvent cleaning systems and compressed air drying devices etc. Must be able to read labels on cleaning chemicals including work place hazardous materials labels and manufactures recommended mixing and use instructions. Must be able to safely and effectively use all cleaning equipment and chemicals incidental to the specific task assigned. Will be required to communicate orally and/or through written documents or forms necessary to maintain stocks of cleaning supplies, record work performed on an individual unit basis and complete any records required for invoicing or payroll purposes. May be required to handle cash and make out receipts for cleaning services sold to other bus companies or independent operators buying cleaning services. Must be physically fit and capable of handling the size and weight of the equipment that will be used. Must be able to work indoors under artificial lighting conditions and out doors in all weather conditions. Must be able to identify and work with a broad range of cleaning chemicals in a safe manner so as to prevent a hyper sensitive reaction that would compromise the required ability to perform any of the duties that may be assigned. As a minimum requirement must be in possession of a valid Class 5 or better BC drivers license for standard and automatic vehicles with an air brake endorsement. Specific Responsibilities

1. Clean the interiors and exteriors of various Company-owned or leased vehicles as

determined by the Company.

2. Fuel and check all fluid levels as determined by cleaning and fuelling procedures established by the company.

3. Clean interior and exterior bus advertising and back lit lighting, report any interior lights

that are not working. Replace interior & exterior advertising signs when instructed to do so.

4. As part of the vault dumping procedures, must “Probe” busses and “Dump” vault canisters

into vault receiver unit. 5. May be required to “pre-trip” a bus for another driver. 6. May be required at short notice to provide replacement coverage for a regular transit

driver. 7. Miscellaneous building cleaning duties, dumping trashcans and washing floors when

assigned. 8. Cleaning engine compartments, undercarriages, wheels, and vehicle parts cleaning. 9. May be assigned incidental tasks of a janitorial nature or general clean up and painting

duties that are commonly associated with the operation of a maintenance center and bus parking/servicing garage.

10. And related duties as required.
