The homestand wraps up with four games against the Reds, starting tomorrow, before the Dodgers embark on a three-city, 11-day road trip. The home team won all 15 MLB games yesterday, marking the most games in one day, all won by the home team, in Major League history (Source: Elias Sports Bureau). The previous record was 12 games on May 23, 1914. There were three major leagues in 1914, the National (four games that day), American (four) and Federal (four). Kershaw leads the Majors with 197 strikeouts and with three Ks tonight, he will surpass the 200-strikeout mark for the sixth year in a row. Only Sandy Koufax (6) and Don Drysdale (6) would have as many seasons with 200+ strikeouts in franchise history, while Koufax (1961-66) and Tom Seaver (9, 1968-76) are the only pitchers in modern National League history (since 1900) to previously accomplish the feat in six or more consecutive seasons (Source: ESPN Stats & Info). Kershaw saw his 37.0 scoreless inning streak come to an end Friday at Pittsburgh, which was his second career streak of 37.0 or more innings (41.0 scoreless last year). According to Elias, the last pitcher with multiple single-season scoreless innings streaks of at least that length was Luis Tiant, who did so with the Indians in 1968 (41.0 IP, Apr. 24-May 17) and Red Sox in 1972 (40.0 IP, Aug. 19-Sept. 8.). Kershaw fanned 14, the second-highest total of his career, and allowed just three hits in 8.0 scoreless innings in his last start against the Nationals, July 18 at Washington. WIN THE SERIES: The Dodgers continue a seven-game homestand

and look for a win in the rubber match of their three-game series

against Washington following a 5-0 victory last night. The Dodgers’

win snapped a four-game losing streak, which was the club’s longest

since a four-game slide Sept. 13-16, 2013. The homestand wraps up

with four games against the Reds, starting tomorrow, before the

Dodgers embark on a three-city, 11-day road trip.

The home team won all 15 MLB games yesterday, marking

the most games in one day, all won by the home team, in

Major League history (Source: Elias Sports Bureau). The

previous record was 12 games on May 23, 1914. There were

three major leagues in 1914, the National (four games that

day), American (four) and Federal (four).

Los Angeles has gone 38-19 (.667) at home this year, on

pace to post its best winning percentage at Dodger Stadium

since 1991 (54-27, .667). The Dodgers have lost only three

of 18 home series this year (12-3-3).

Last night marked the Dodgers’ MLB-leading 16th shutout

victory of the season.

NOT POLITICAL: Tonight’s game will mark the finale of the

season series between the Dodgers and Nationals, with Los Angeles

holding a 3-2 series advantage. The Dodgers, who can clinch the

season series with a win tonight, have only lost two season series to

the Nationals since the franchise relocated to Washington in 2005 (6-

2-2). In that span, Washington has only won two series at Dodger

Stadium, taking two of three in 2005 and 2014, but the franchise’s

struggles in Los Angeles date to its inception in 1969 in Montreal,

with the Expos/Nationals holding the lowest all-time winning

percentage of any NL club at Dodger Stadium:

Lowest Winning Pct. at Dodger Stadium, NL

Nationals/Expos .348 (79-148)

Colorado Rockies .380 (70-114)

Pittsburgh Pirates .390 (115-180)

MONUMENTAL: Clayton Kershaw enters tonight’s start unbeaten

in his last six starts (4-0, 0.96 ERA (5 ER/47.0 IP) and one win shy of

reaching double-digit wins for the sixth consecutive season. Kershaw

leads the Majors with 197 strikeouts and with three Ks tonight, he will

surpass the 200-strikeout mark for the sixth year in a row. Only Sandy

Koufax (6) and Don Drysdale (6) would have as many seasons with

200+ strikeouts in franchise history, while Koufax (1961-66) and Tom

Seaver (9, 1968-76) are the only pitchers in modern National League

history (since 1900) to previously accomplish the feat in six or more

consecutive seasons (Source: ESPN Stats & Info).

1905 (Source: ESPN.com’s Elias Says Blog)

Named National League Co-Players of the

Week along with teammate Zack Greinke for July 17-19, making it his seventh career

NL Player of the Week honor, having won most recently for June 1-7, 2015
