FTS explores all options to manage client’s waste streams, working to reduce health and safety risks and eliminate potential liability.

FTS has developed a streamlined waste management approach that includes optimized containerization, accurate container labeling, and electronic tracking of containers ensuring regulatory compliance. Staff can oversee your waste from profiling through to manifest signatory agents for off-site transportation and disposal.

Types of site waste managed include: Hazardous Waste Non-hazardous Waste Universal Waste Trash

Waste Management–The FTS ApproachFTS performs sampling and analysis to define a “Waste Profile” that is used to develop a streamlined management plan and to meet transportation and disposal requirements. At this stage FTS evaluates waste reduction and reuse options to minimize onsite storage, and ultimately, transportation and disposal costs. Staff also determine the most cost-effective containment system such as drums, tanks, or other bulk storage options depending on site specific waste quantities, volume, and physical state.

trained in Health & Safety and also have specialized training in RCRA Regulations, 3-year DOT, and annual Railway Worker Safety.

Once containerized, stored, and labeled, waste must be transported off-site within the required time. To help manage the waste and meet all regulatory requirements, FTS developed a web-based electronic tracking system. Electronic tracking streamlines the storage and transportation step, providing the following benefits.

Containers must be shipped within the mandated schedule to avoid noncompliance penalties. Container holding times are easily tracked to ensure compliance.

Containers stored at various locations can be readily identified for shipment consolidation.

Clients can view the real-time status of all waste containers awaiting offsite shipment.

FTS staff performs routine site activities according to a detailed site plan. At a minimum, the plan includes an overview of the site, administrative contact information, health and safety requirements, current activities, waste profiles, manifests, forms, labeling instructions, shipping requirements, and container preparation.

FTS staff also performs regulatory required weekly inspections of waste storage areas. The inspection includes a variety of tasks according to EPA regulations and includes evaluating access, the condition of containers, labels, and the storage area, and verification that no container is overdue for transportation and disposal.
