BUDGET & PRODUCTION£8.1 Million was budgeted for this film. Through both Warp’s
lottery funding, which received help from production company Studio Canal and also the BFI film fund.
The production was done by 5 small independent companies; Warp, Film 4, screen Yorkshire and Creative Scotland.
FILM RECEPTIONThe film was widely received positively. The films average
rating on the IMBD website is 7.7/10; the site's consensus reads: "Powerfully directed and acted, '71
stays true to its fact-based origins while remaining as gripping as any solidly crafted action thriller.”
It was immediately released into the British independent movie awards where it won one award and was nominated for 8.
SYNERGYThe biggest use of synergy was star synergy, they used Jack
O’Connell, he was the main actor in the series Skins and Harry Brown, this meant that he already ready had a large fan base which attracted many to watch the film. The film is currently available to buy or rent through Youtube, this is the one way of media convergence that they have used in distribution of the film, as the exchange the film is available on DVD and Blur-Ray being released through Lionsgate.
