Layout

NOTE Use the layout as a guide for measuring, marking, and cutting the Legs. Note: MarkALL of the cutlines on the part before cutting. On the bottom end (the right sideof the image above), cut the 15­degree cut first.

Position the Top Rail Assembly as shownand attach to the Legs using glue and 11 /4-inch pocket hole screws.

Make sure the edge of the Top RailAssembly is flush with the end of theLegs. This will keep the assembly at thecorrect angle.

Also make sure to thoroughly apply glueto the area of the Legs making contactwith the Assembly. It's not necessary, butyou can drive 1 1 /4-inch brads throughthe Assembly and into the Legs if desired,in addition to the three pocket hole screwson each end.

Position the Bottom RailAssembly as shown and attach tothe Legs using glue and 1 1 /4-inch pocket hole screws.

Be sure to mark the starting pointof the Assembly on both Legs.Also make sure to thoroughlyapply glue to the area of theLegs making contact with theAssembly. It's not necessary, butyou can drive 1 1 /4-inch bradsthrough the Assembly and intothe Legs if desired, in addition tothe three pocket hole screws oneach end.

NOTEPlace the remaining two Legs onyour work surface, flip over theAssembly on the Legs, positionas shown previously, and attachthe Assembly to the Legs usingglue and 1 1 /4-inch pocket holescrews.

Be sure to thoroughly apply glueto the area of the Legs makingcontact with the Assembly. It'snot necessary, but you can drive1 1 /4-inch brads through theAssembly and into the Legs ifdesired, in addition to the threepocket hole screws on each end.

Create Top Assembly - Option 1Make an edge-glued panel from the WideTop Slats and the Narrow Top Slats. Cutthe Slats slightly longer than the parts listso the ends of the assembly can be cutsquare. Apply glue to the inside edgesand clamp in place using cawls. Scrapeoff the excess glue after it has dried a bit,but before it fully sets.

NOTE

Create Top Assembly - Option 2Drill pocket holes in a pattern as shown below, and attach the Slats using glue and 1 1 /4-inch pocket holes. Cutthe Slats slightly longer than the parts list so the ends of the assembly can be cut square. Scrape off the excessglue after it has dried a bit, but before it fully sets.

Position one Mid Bottom Slat centered acrossthe Bottom Rail Assembly as shown below,and attach to the Bottom Stretcher using glueand 1 1 /4-inch pocket hole screws. Attachit to the Bottom End Rails using glueand 1 1 /4-inch brads.

Position the Side Bottom Slatsas shown at right, with the cutoutsections resting against the insideof the Legs. Attach to theBottom Side Rails using glue and1 1 /4-inch pocket hole screws.
