• Walter Disney was born Hermosa, Chicago, Illinois, United States on 5th December 1901.

• As an adult, he became a film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, entertainer and animator.

A Vision

• Disney came up with the idea of a fun park that both children and adults could play in after he visited other parks with his daughters.

• He and his brother Roy co-founded the Walt Disney Productions.

• Disney’s first theme park opened on 18th July 1955 in Anaheim, California.

• Walt personally supervised the development of the park, so he got what he wanted.

More Parks

• In 1968 he wanted to create a Disney “World” and started to hunt around the world for a good location.

• He had a private jet which was nick-named “Mouse” and became the most used private jet, taking Disney people all over the world.

• Today, “Mouse” is resting in the back lot museum, at Disney Hollywood Studio’s in Florida.

• If you look closely, Mickey Mouse is painted on his tail.

Florida

• Walt Disney found land in Florida and started to buy up huge areas of land to create his Disney “World”

Disney Parks

• There are Disney parks in California, Florida, Paris, Japan and they have just built one in Hawaii.

• This is a map of the Disney World in Florida. It’s big!

Epcot

• At Epcot, you travel around the world.

• This is in Japan. These drummers visited from Japan.

Characters

• The Disney company have created lots of characters.
