THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY

Walter Elias Disney Was a producer, director, screenwriter and American animator. He founded, along with his brother Roy O. Disney, The Walt Disney Company, which currently generates annual revenues of 30,000 million dollars.

Disney met Ubbe Iwwerks and they founded a company called "Iwerks-Disney Commercial Artists" in January 1920. They did not get too many customers, and they had to leave the company.

Both were hired by the Kansas City Film Ad Company, working in advertising.

After two years at Film Ad, Disney believed it had acquired enough experience to start a new business. In 1922, he founded the company “Laugh-O-Gram Films, Inc.”, dedicated to making animated shorts based on popular fairy tales and stories for children, such as Cinderella or Puss in Boots. One of its many employees were Iwerks.

After creating his latest short film, Alice's Wonderland, the studio went bankrupt in June 1923. Disney then decided to move to the thriving center of the film industry, Hollywood, and took with him the film Alice's Wonderland.

He sent the film to the distributor Margaret Winkler, who showed great interest in it and hired Disney to produce more films combining animation and live action.

Later,Disney joined his brother Roy, and convinced him to take charge of economic management of the study. Then moved to Hollywood from Kansas City. This was the beginning of the Disney Brothers' Studio, the germ of the future The Walt Disney Company.

In 1927, Charles B. Mintz, who had married Margaret Winkler and had taken the reins of his business, asked for a new animation series of films, which would be distributed by Universal Pictures of Carl Laemmle. The new series, "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit," was an almost instant success

Unfortunately, Disney lost the copyright to Oswald, so decided to create a new character. Moment he was born "Mortimer" or as we know it, Mickey Mouse.

The Mickey's first movie appearance took place on May 15, 1928 ,it was a silent short film, like all Disney films to date.Disney himself was in charge of the vocal effects of his early short films when they began to have a voice.

In 1932 Disney create Flowers and trees, the first animation film in Full Technicolor.First animation which won an Academy Award

With the success of the appearance of Mickey Mouse, the company grew slowly.

Walter Elias Disney died in 1966, but this did not prevent the company to continue growing

Today, the Disney Company continues to expand, and is directed by Sheryl Sandberg.

From 2010, Sheryl Sandberg is also the director of operations of Facebook company.

The current president of the International Walt Disney Corporation is Andy Bird.
