WAGA 2015 Taekwondo

Welcome to the WA Games 2015!

WA Game is ideal for those athletes who have little to no experience in prior tournaments. The structure and format of this event promotes a safe, nurturing and fun environment to support the growth of athletes.

WA Games Taekwondo is a proud component of the SUBWAY® Washington Games. SUBWAY® Washington Games is the banner program of the Powered by Youth fitness movement, representing over 20 sports the SUBWAY® Washington Games drew over 9,000 participants and thousands more spectators. Whether you are 6 or 60 years of age. Come join us. Learn, practice, and compete at the WA Games.

We extend our gratitude to the Seattle Sports Commission for their sponsorship. Without their help the WA Games would not be a reality. Also my heartfelt gratitude to hundreds of volunteers who donate their time selflessly. Also without them the WA Games logistically would not be possible.

However you experience the WA Games, whether as an Athlete, a Coach, a Parent or as a Master, we sincerely hope that the memories you create here at the Games will be successful and positive.

SPARRING:

The current USAT & WTF competition rules will govern this championship. The organizing committee may modify some rules according to the local condition. And has concerning head contact rules. It also reserves the right to combine or divide weight categories depending on the size of the group and further modify rules governing this event without notice.

1) Any contact to the head area which does not make any injury will be given a warningbythereferee.Continuedcontacttotheheadreceivingin3warningswillbecausefordisqualifica-tion regardless of injury.

2) Any contact which makes injury to the head area will result in a one-point deduction.

3) If the competitor cannot continue because of the injury to head area, the opponent who caused the injury willbedisqualified.

1) Excessive contact to the head area: even in the absence of visible injury, such as light bleeding or abrasion, the referee may deem the contact to be excessive and declare the appropriate penalty.

2) Competitor who executes a successful technique to the face (light contact w/o causing any injury) shall be awarded three-point.

3) The referee should not give an 8-count for any technique, even a legal one, to the head area; if a kick to the head is powerful enough to warrant an 8-count, it should be considered excessive and the appropriate penalty should be declared. Seattle Sports CommissionWe do a lot of things. But who is the Seattle Sports Commission? Well just for you we’ve poured

over our past, present, and future, our goals, our accomplishments, and finally we boiled it down to this. Our Manifesto. We can promise that this is who we are day in and day out and we will be doing everything for you.

WE BELIEVE IN SPORTS. Sports can bring the world to Seattle, and bring our region together. A strong sports culture can strengthen local busi-ness, local kids, and local pride.

WE BELIEVE IN A WORLD-CLASS SPORTS COMMUNITY. We will be known for world-class events, busi-ness opportunities, and a community that welcomes and celebrates sports. From pros to amateurs, arenas to the outdoors, as only Seattle can.

AND WE’RE MAKING IT HAPPEN. Sports. Events. Opportunity. Com-munity. We’re the team behind the teams, the advocates behind the ath-letes. We are business leaders, com-munity activists, friends, and neigh-bors. And we’re working together because we believe in sports.

About the SSC

The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to play a critical role in generat-ing the power of sports to drive economic development, influence the quality of life and shape the future of the region.

The SSC serves as an advocate to local amateur, collegiate, and professional sports organizations because we understand the cultural importance of sports in our community.

The SSC also supports the Powered By You fitness movement and the SUB-WAY® Washington Games in an effort to curb the rising incidence of youth obesity in our state.

“After attending tournament after tournament. Our parents, competitors and coaches wanted something different. We wanted to gather together in a fun atmosphere and celebrate the day”

We began just like you. Sitting all day on an flat bleacher,

packed into a stuffy gym like sardines.

After attending tourna-ment after tournament. Our parents, competitors and coaches wanted some-thing different. We wanted to gather together in a fun atmosphere and celebrate the day of competiton with

friends and families we met at other events.

What better way to do that during our awesome Seattle summer then in an outdoor/indoor venue. Seattle has one of the most beautiful park systems in the country and Sandpoint Magnuson park happens to be the best in Seattle.

Bring your family, bring your dog and enjoy the day with us!
