NACH: Flexible Mandate Digitization Models with Flatbed Scanners

Compared to specialised, single-purpose scanners, flatbed scanners cost much less,are multipurpose and can be easily installed. Many bank branches own a flatbedscanner for imaging documents. With flatbed scanners, banks can implement flexibleand volume-based models of mandate digitization with a hybrid mix of centralised anddecentralised digitization operations.

In a decentralised model, branches can use a flatbed scanner to digitize mandates andtransmit them over secured leased lines to banks operations centre or an imageprocessing partner for downstream image processing. Further, remote branches, where

volumes are significantly lower to merit investment in separate flatbed scanners, cancome together to form a hub branch for scanning operations.

A unique sequence ID is assigned to every scanned image, which can be used totrace the user who scanned the mandate and his/her branch or hub.
