Introduction The  Soryn  IP  Group  is  pleased  to  exclusively  offer  for  sale  a  patent  portfolio  related  to  virtual  reality  environments  with  embedded  commerce  applications.    This  portfolio  is  the  brainchild  of  a  leading  technologist,  who  held  senior  positions  at  many  of  the  world’s  leading  technology  companies  before  founding  the  research  and  development  company  through  which  this  portfolio  emanated      As  Facebook’s  recent  $2  Billion  purchase  of  virtual  reality  company  Oculus  demonstrates,  the  renaissance  of  virtual  reality  is  upon  us.1    Experts  also  agree  that  a  key  application  of  Oculus  or  any  virtual  reality  platform  is  the  ability  to  introduce  e-‐commerce  to  virtual  reality  environments:      Although  [virtual  reality]  is  largely  designed  for  gaming  .  .  .  it  also  has  huge  potential  for  other  applications,  such  as  shopping  and  social  experiences.    Directly  related  to  this  lucrative  virtual  reality  market,  the  3  patents  and  2  patent  applications  in  this  portfolio  relate  to  foundational  aspects  of  e-‐commerce  in  virtual  reality  environments.    As  such,  they  will  prove  a  valuable  asset  to  any  technology  company  seeking  to  enter  the  virtual  reality  market,  whether  through  wearables,  e-‐commerce  web  platforms  or  commerce-‐based  social  media.

The  patents  in  this  portfolio  contain  high  quality  claims  that  issued  after  lengthy  and  thorough  prosecution.    The  portfolio  also  benefits  from  favorable  priority  dates  and  a  lengthy  patent  term  extension.    All  pending  applications  are  being  strategically  prosecuted  at  the  direction  of  the  Soryn  IP  Group.

This  virtual  reality  patent  portfolio  is  the  brainchild  of  a  pioneering  technologist  in  every  sense  of  the  word.    A  Ph.D.  in  physics  and  the  named  inventor  of  16  U.S.  Patents,  this  inventor  has  held  senior  positions  at  many  of  the  world’s  most  prestigious  technology  companies,  including  AT&T  Bell  Laboratory,  General  Electric  Co.  and  Applied  Materials.      Ultimately,  in  1997,  the  inventor  of  this  portfolio  founded  a  computer  research  and  development  company  devoted  to  exploring  how  computers,  computing  networks,  and  the  Internet  can  be  optimized  and  made  better  and  more  intelligent  for  human  users.    The  patents  in  this  portfolio  originated  from  within  that  company’s  research  and  development  activities.                                                                                                                  1  https://www.facebook.com/zuck/posts/10101319050523971;    http://mashable.com/2014/03/31/oculus-‐rift-‐facebook-‐concept-‐video/;  http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/28/facebook-‐on-‐oculus-‐rift/  2  http://mashable.com/2014/03/31/oculus-‐rift-‐facebook-‐concept-‐video/

The Market While  rare  for  a  leading  technology  company  to  publicly  forecast  its  bet  for  the  future,  Facebook’s  Mark  Zuckerberg  did  exactly  that  following  the  company’s  announcement  of  its  acquisition  of  the  virtual  reality  platform  Oculus.      During  a  Facebook  conference  call  announcing  its  $2  billion  acquisition  of  Oculus,  Mr.  Zuckerberg  emphasized  the  company’s  belief  in  virtual  reality,  noting  that  “the  most  exciting  platform  is  around  modifying  what  you  see  to  create  .  .  .  immersive  experiences.”3      Echoing  Facebook’s  investment,  a  number  of  the  world’s  most  prestigious  companies  have  signaled  their  intent  to  enter  the  virtual  reality  space.    Put  simply,  “no  major  technology  company  is  ignoring  a  product  with  the  potential  to  change  so  much.”4

“The  virtual  reality  business  is  attracting  the  attention  of  the  biggest  companies,  who  see  this  technology  as  a  profitable

niche  market  that’s  worth  investing  in.”5

In  addition  to  Facebook,  notable  participants  in  the  virtual  reality  space  include:

• Microsoft  -‐  in  addition  to  a  recent  $150  million  acquisition  related  to  virtual  reality  IP6,  Microsoft  is  emphasizing  its  commitment  to  virtual  reality  experiences.7

• Sony  –  recently  announced  its  Virtual  Reality  System,  termed  “Project  Morpheus.”

• Google  –  recently  began  highlighting  virtual  stores  that  are  accessible  to  consumers  via  Google  Street  View  Tours.8

• A  host  of  other  companies  recognizing  the  promise  of  virtual  reality.

According  to  a  recent  analyst  report,  the  immersive  virtual  reality  market  is  expected  to  reach  $1.06  Billion  by  2018.9
