On Tuesday 16th September, Years4 and 5 made their way by coach toan outward bound activity centre inShropshire; this exiting place is calledEdgmond Hall.
When we arrived we were shown intoa large classroom, the centre staff spoketo us about the days activities and in notime we were off exploring! First of all, wemade our way to the forest which looked
like a mysterious jungle. When we enteredthe forest I saw lots of trees and at the baseof some of the trees you could see hugespindly roots sticking up out of the ground wow I thought to myself!
After exploring the vast open spaceof the forest area, we then took part insome fun activities. There were a numberof games to take part in, my particularfavourite was one using pretend dynamitesticks, you had to use a long pole withouthandles on to get your dynamite into abucket if the bell rang then you wouldlose a member of your team!
The day seemed to go so quickly at
Edgmond Hall, as there was so much to seeand do. Before long it was time to return toschool to tell all of our friends and familyabout our wonderful great Big Adventure!

OnMonday15th September, Years 6and5wentonavisit toEdgmond HallinShropshire.We linkedthetriptoEdgmondHallbasedon ourNICERCurriculumchallenges.Year 6sactivitieshadbeenplannedaroundthethemeof WW2.
Therstactivitythatwetook partinwasmilitarytness training. First,wesmudgedcharcoalonourfaces.Then,wesplit intoteams. There weredifferent activitiesfor ustoundertake;therst onebeinganobstaclecourse.Whilewe weremakingourwayaroundthecourseweweretimed; all of the groupswereinacompetitiontosee whosegroupwouldbethequickest gettingacross. Sadly,mygroupdidnt win.
Thenextpart ofourmilitarytness trainingwas undercover targetpractise-wehadtorunarounda seriesof conesthendiveunderacamouagesheet, grababeanbagandthrowitoverahighwallmakingsurethat thebeanbaglandedonatarget. Again, thiswastoscorepoints toseewhichgrouphadgotthemost!
Thenalparttoour tnesstrainingwastocarrya member ofourgroupfromoneplace
toanother onastretcher. Thisactivitywasalot offun.Welaughedalotwhilecarryingourfriendsalongonthestretcher. Someofourclassmemberswerecarriedfurtherthanothers.
Thesecondmain activity wetookpart inwas
togointoaWW2evacueeclassroom.WhilewewereintheclassroomwelledoutourownWW2identitycards, justasif wehadbeenchildrenin thewar. Wehadto writewithafeatherpenusinginkandblottingpapersothat ourwritingdidntsmudge.Then,weactuallywroteall theinformation ontoouridentity cards.
Later,wewenttodigforvictory inamud patch.Wedugallof theweeds outfromsomevegetablepatches.Wewereshownwhatvegetableswerehome grownduringthewarandwe weregivent
ipsonhowtotendtheground.WhileIwasdiggingI foundapotato!After that,weall hadsomefreetimeto
play inthe grounds withourfriends. Afterlunchweweretakentolookatsome of theanimalswhicharekept atEdgmondHall.First, welookedatthechickensandweweretoldhowuseful theyaretofarmowners andtopeoplewholivedthroughthewar.Welearnedwhattheyeatandhowfamiliesusedthemfor food.We thenwent toseerabbitsand guineapigs(whichwereverycute).
Wehadagreat dayandwe learnedalotaswellashavingloads of fun! It was thentime
tomakeourjourney home afteralongtiringday
