throughout the City of
Tyler depending on the
minimum requirements.

work to special events to

SHINING STAR VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH
leisure travel, interior
decorating, listening to
music and
scrapbooking.
Deedra stated,
“Volunteering gives me
peace when I know
there is a need and I
have the opportunity to
step up.”
Thank you for
bringing your
experience to the City
of Tyler. You are truly
a shining star!
Deedra Hoard has been
chosen as the Shining Star
for the months of
September and October.
She has been volunteering
at special events such as
the Tyler Public Library’s
Spring Book Sale and the
#SchoolisCool event over
the past year.
After she and her
family moved from
Memphis last year, Deedra
knew that she did not come
to Tyler to sit down. She
wanted to continue her
service to the community
as she did with several
different organizations,
include the Lupus
Foundation of America,
Inc., Girl Scouts of
America, Habitat for
Humanity, Metropolitan
Inner-Faith Association
(MIFA), Mid-South Food
Bank, Dress for Success,
and The National Coalition
of 100 Black Women, Inc.,
Memphis Chapter. She also
served as a member of both
the Germantown Chamber
of Commerce and her
church’s Trustee Board. “I can definitely depend
on Deedra to show up and
be a consummate
professional at any event
that she is assigned,” said
Yolanda Prince, volunteer
coordinator .
When Deedra is not busy
volunteering, attending her
son’s football games,
visiting her daughter at
Grambling State University,
or working as a national
business development
director for Puroclean, she
partakes in photography, Deedra Hoard
