HOD SPEAKFrom HODs Desk –April 2019 Greetings to Students and faculty!!! I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all my faculty members, students, parents, Alumni, non-teaching staff for their continuous efforts in getting NAAC Accreditation grade A+ . Keeping the same enthusiasm and spirit, our department is working collectively to appear for National board of Accred- itationteam visit the second time. I wish to highlight that we groomed our students so as they can participate in project competitions within and also outside the institute. In this quarter, our department witnessed a blend of aca- demic activities along with sports, cultural activities. As usual in this semester there were guest lectures, seminars, industri- al visit, Project reviews conducted by faculty members. I wish all my students success in their future examination. 1. A Guest lecture on ‘Industrial application of networking’ was conducted by Mr.Yogesh

Hudale,Director, Telenetwork technologies. The activity was intended to highlight the current trends

in Networking and wireless technology and help in training the young technology enthusiasts in the

emerging telecom and networking technologies and help them understand LIVE networks. The idea

behind the guest lecture was to mitigate the gap between the students’ knowledge and the industry

Faculty Profiles 2. Electronics & Telecommunications Department, had planned, the 1-Day Industrial Visit to Hindustan

Unilever Limited Nasik. The Visit was scheduled for 28th February, 2019. Visit Comments –

The Visit schedule started at the plant at 11 Hrs and the visit was divided into two parts. The first part

contained Company actual product information and the second part contained presentation on compa-

ny to the various Products of the plant.

Company Information-

Company was incorporated in 1933. Industry is based on Consumer Goods. Company Headquarters

at Mumbai. Turnover of Company is 25,206 CRS. Their Research and Development team at Mumbai

and Bangalore. Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is the largest FMCG Company in India. It is owned

by the British-Dutch company “Unilever” and has about 52% majority stake in Hindustan Unilever Lim-

ited. Its products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. It is head-

quartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Hindustan Unilever Limited has over 35 brands spanning 20

distinct categories. As per Nielsen market research data, two out of three Indians use HUL products. Company Presentations – It contains information about Company product. Firstly they gave information related about Site Safety

briefing. It gives the information about the depth and passion related to Safety. There are different

products of company like Annapurna, kwality walls, Knoor Soups, Brooke bond, Taaza, Red label,

Magnum, Modern.

All students were very satisfied with the visit as they received good amount of information about the

manufacturing processes and their flow in a food industry, their interface with Electronic process auto-

mation and their integration with Home care Brand System and the Students received

the desired exposure. Overall it was a very productive and interesting experience and the visit was

successfully completed.

All Students were provided with the Lunch in the Canteen. The visit concluded with the Group photo-

graph at the main gate arch at 16:30 Hrs.

3. A guest Lecture on ‘Recent trends in Communication’ was conducted on 29th March,2019. It was

arranged for SE EXTC Students. The activity was intended to highlight the current trends in communi-

cation. The session began with felicitation of Mr.Amit Khare (Assistant Manager,BSNL Mumbai). He

then started the lecture with explanation of fundamental principles, concepts in communication engi-

neering.

He covered following topics and also explained relevance of these topics in Industry:

Basics of analog and digital modulation.

Impact of multiplexing techniques.

Pulse code modulation

Use of Optical transport networks.

Superheterodyne receivers.

4. An elective orientation program for SE EXTC Students was organized by the department on 22nd

March,2019. The idea behind this program was to introduce students with the elective subjects of se-

mester five and six. The session started by an introductory speech on vision, mission and program out-

comes by Prof.Dattatray Bade (Academic co-ordinator for second year students). Then the session fol-

lowed by briefing students about various modules of respective subjects. For each elective,the con-

cerned faculty incharge briefed students on the points on which one should opt for a particular elective.

The session also was addressed by Prof Sanjay Singh Thakur (HOD,EXTC Department) . Prof.Thakur

briefed on job opportunities in the field of electronics and communication and explained significance of

all elective subjects w.r.t research and development.

Dr.Sanjay Singh Thakur invited as chief guest for ‘Circuit Building Competition-2019’at Xavi-

er Institute of Technology, Mahim on 22nd March,2019.

Dr.Arpit Rawankar and his students (Sonal pawar and Prashant kumavat) received ‘Best

paper Award’ for his paper titled ‘Detection of vibration of human skin surface with optical

interferometry’ in 3rd International conference on optical and wireless technology, National

institute of technology ,Jaipur ,16-17 March 2019.

Our BE EXTC Student Subhash Sajja lead his team to come amongst top 50 teams in stage

1 of ROBOCON– 2019 Competition.

Grant/Fund of Rs.2,50,000 received from IEEE Bombay Section to conduct various technical

activities under leadership of Prof.Saurabh Mehta.
