Time flies by just like wood chips and sawdust. Always too many projects
and not enough time. Seems like just yesterday we were getting ready for
the annual 2 X 4 contest. Now it’s Clock Building Time. And I’m still
working on my log-top, see through table for state fair entry. My Shop
still needs cleaning and reorganizing too. I have managed to visit half a
dozen shops new-to-me and re-visit a couple of others! What other hobbies do we all participate in? Bill Stoy, Ian Gregg
and Shorty Powell share an interest in growing Koi and various pond
plants. Shorty actually converted his home pool into a fish-pond. Bill &
Ian spend time trying to keep the wild varmints away from their fish.
What other hobbies do You enjoy? Send a note to J.D., Richard or myself
and let us know. If you missed last month’s photo session, please try and attend this
month. We want to get the currant roster with photos updated and printed.
If you know of any members who are unable to come to the meeting,
please advise & I will try to visit & photograph them at home. Jim Smith, one of our long time members is not able to drive him-
self to meetings at night due to Glaucoma. Ian lives only a few blocks
away and has volunteered to haul Jim along to meetings. This is what the
WW Club is all about, helping one another. If you know of anyone else
needing help getting to meetings, tell us about it so we can find a solution. Be ready to be amazed July 15th as Roger Mullins shares some of
his vast knowledge about inlay tricks & techniques. I for one, am looking
forward to learning more about this fascinating field. I have done some,
but nothing I would want to show! Roger will be missed when he moves
to Alabama Keep that sawdust flying! Whitt

Treasurer’s Report:
TIP OF THE MONTH: Do More with Your Rip Blade
Grooves. A rip blade is ideal for cutting flatbottom grooves to hold panels or for stub tenon and groove joinery.
Tapers. Combination blades can bog down cutting tapers. A rip blade reduces burning and puts less stress on the saw.
Tenons. When paired with a tenoning jig, a rip blade makes it easy to get smooth tenon cheeks and square shoulders.

Vern & Gil’s Great Project
Last month Vern was our speaker and the subject was double dovetails and installing hinges onto small boxes. Since Vern
suffers what we all do; (Sometimers Disease}, we got an extended hinge class only. Vern brought everything for the dou-
ble dovetail demo except the Incra jig. Now I don’t fell so bad about some of the things I have forgotten. Hopefully we
can get Vern to do the double dovetails demo at a later date.
Keep that sawdust flying! Whitt
When was the last time you visited your local library? Now you can enjoy a special treat at the James B. Keel Regional
Library located at 2902 W. Bearss Ave. That is ½ mile East of Dale Mabry. Our very own Vern Blackadar and Gil Sam-
reny teamed up to build a custom bookcase and a Table with shelves above it for the entry foyer of the library! You
can’t miss them. Going in the front doors the bookcase is on the right and the table & shelf assembly are on the right.
Tambour rollups, glass and lots of well-decorated wood make this a great illustration of our hobby! Be sure and stop by
and look at them soon. Mention to the chief librarian that they should have a dedication plaque that includes the fact that
both guys are club members.

The PET Ministry
Farewell Jeff and April
With mixed emotions we say farewell to Jeff and April Sukup, founders of the Tampa PET Workshop. They have been
called to Gabarone, Botswana, in Africa to serve as missionaries at the Open Baptist Church. Jeff will serve as the
Missions Facilitator and will be coordinating incoming short-term mission teams from churches in the U.S. PET Tampa became a passion for Jeff, who has always had a heart for the mission field in developing countries. His wife, April, is the daughter of one of the co-founders of the PET Project, Larry Hills. Initially, Jeff started out providing various parts to Larry’s workshop in
Penny Farms, just outside of Jacksonville. As an accomplished woodworker, it didn’t take Jeff long to catch the fever, and soon
he started hatching plans for a full workshop inTampa. The perfect opportunity arose when Davis Islands BaptistChurch acquired the Ballast Point property. Jeff commandeered the
small administration building and began turning it into a workshop in 2004. Soon after, DIBC began development of the Ballast Point property, and PET Tampa had to look for another location. In everything, God provides, and
Faith Baptist Church in South Seminole Heights opened their hearts to the PET ministry. Thanks to Jeff’s hard work and strong faith, the Tampa PET Workshop has transformed
from just making parts to a thriving and active ministry that touches people all over the world. Workshop Location : 1109 E Osborne Ave, Tampa, FL 33603 East of Nebraska on 12th Street at Osborne (just off I-275 inTampa at the MLK exit). Workshop times: Saturday 9 AM - 12 PM Thursday 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Check the website for holiday hours. Website: www.pettampa.org
