This document provides numerous state assets and other resources that could play roles in implementing health improvement
strategies. The document has three sections.
The first section contains hospitals, local University of Kentucky Extension Offices, and local health departments,
listed for each of Kentucky’s 120 counties. Each county’s Extension Office should have food and nutrition educators.
The second section identifies state parks and national recreational areas. There are three categories of state parks –
resort parks, recreational parks, and historic parks/sites . Each park is unique, but all should have some recreational
facilities ranging from walking trails, to hiking, to swimming or water activities, to playgrounds. National recreational
areas and campground also vary, but most have walking and hiking trails and many have swimming areas and
playgrounds.
The third section identifies most of the health related organizations located in Kentucky; most have hyperlinks.
