Chet’s Chat
Dr. Chet Andrews Senior Pastor
I love a good story. If you are ever in my home or office you
will find many books and movies that inspire, humble, and
motivate. And a good story can elicit a myriad of emotions
from joy, to sadness, and everything in between.
As a pastor, I am always looking for ways to better
communicate the best and most important story ever told.
The story of the complete, amazing, and persistent love of
Jesus spurs me forward every day. And of course, I
consistently proclaim the Gospel to both the members and
guests of State Street Baptist Church almost every week.
However, proclaiming the Gospel means nothing if my life
doesn’t reflect Christ. Even in my imperfection and the
process of repentance, the story of God’s forgiveness is
proclaimed.
The Gospel literally means “good news” and is often called,
“The Greatest Story Ever Told.” In an effort to better
communicate the love of Jesus, I am always looking for
inspiration and ways to proclaim the Gospel with great
clarity and passion. My inspiration comes from a variety of
sources. God inspires me to hone the craft of preaching
often times through my relationship with my bride and my
children. But God also uses comedians, news anchors,
books, movies, and even commercials to inspire new,
different, and better ways to communicate the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.
As we approach a new year, my prayer is that our church
both models and proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ to
those who God puts in our path as we intentionally seek
Jesus daily. Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that, “The thief
comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that
they may have life, and have it to the full.” I pray in 2018 we
allow the world to see the abundant life Jesus has given us
in full display, in our words, attitude, and actions.

New Teacher Resource Room | (Room 207-A)
We have located numerous previously purchased resources which could be helpful to teachers and church members. Desiring to be good stewards, we are organizing these items so that you may know what is available. They are located in room 207A (the first room on the left as you enter the RA room on the side opposite the choir room). If stairs are a challenge for you, the educational building lift will take you to the second floor. Resources range in age from Preschoolers through Adults. There is no checkout process. Use what you need and return it when you are finished (if not used up completely). You are invited to check out the room whenever you are at church. Items available include Bibles, Bible Helps, Ideas, devotionals, Bible studies, puzzles, games, Gideon display, and missions ideas. There is also a supply of construction paper, scissors, markers, etc… Next time you need some ideas or want to do some personal study, please check us out.

Ministry Council Summary
The Ministry Council met on Sunday, December 17,
due to the regularly scheduled date being a holiday.
The following is a summary of matters discussed.
The Finance Team reported a positive giving trend
in the month of November.
The Property Team is continuing efforts to gather
estimates and bids on repairing or removing the
church steeple, which is the source of several
leaks in the roof.
The Personnel Team is continuing to search for an
organist.
The Missions Team report that several successful
outreach efforts have taken place in the past
month. The BC basketball team has been fed three
times and 23 gallons of hot chocolate were given
away during the Christmas Parade.
The Trustees reported that the previously reported
planned gift of property has been reconsidered,
and the owner of the property no longer wishes to
donate it.
Dear State Street Friends, Thank you for providing juice for our outreach clients monthly. Again, thank you so much. Mary Ishell God’s Helping Hands
