July 22, 2014 ~ Volume 68 ~ Issue 29 The God of Infinity You may have seen the movie “Toy Story” when Buzz Light Year raises his arm and says, “To infinity and beyond.” Shortly thereafter he realizes that he can’t really fly because he is a toy! Christians are similar when we try to understand how God can be infinite. We have all the right intentions, but we just can’t wrap our heads around some things. The idea of God having no bounds or limits is confusing and can be frustrating when one really spends time digging to understand this idea. It is important to understand that “limitation implies imperfection. The infinity of God implies that he is perfect in every respect in which he is infinite. If knowledge in any being has bounds, it is imperfect knowledge; if holiness has degrees or limits in any rational spirit, it is imperfect holiness. Infinity is a general term meaning a characteristic belonging to all the things we can understand about the attributes of God. His power, his knowledge, his intensity is infinite.” (W.G. Shed) God’s infinity is taught in Job 11:7–9 “Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths of the grave— what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.” What should our response to our infinite God be? While we can’t raise our arm and cry out “to infinity and beyond” and have a rock solid understanding of God, we can have a relationship with Him! Through Christ Jesus, “who was and is and is to come!” Our infinite Lord just might have had a plan in place when he put this all together! Our God being infinite, points out that He is a God of Mystery! Think about it. He chose not to give us the capability to really understand everything about Him. Why? Perhaps it is like when a mystery is over; we forget about it when the experience if complete. God knew that we could become bored or not interested anymore if He allowed us all the answers. Leaving some mystery in our understanding of Him keeps me on the edge of my seat seeking Him! I believe this is His divine purpose. This should also bring great hope knowing that the God who loves me has no boundaries or limitations! God is glorified by the process of His creation seeking Him! So our response to God being infinite should not be to give up trying understand Him, but to seek Him all the more! The God of Infinity You may have seen the movie “Toy Story” when Buzz Light Year raises his arm and says, “To infinity and beyond.” Shortly thereafter he realizes that he can’t really fly because he is a toy! Christians are similar when we try to understand how God can be infinite. We have all the right intentions, but we just can’t wrap our heads around some things. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (NIV) Prayer: Lord, we pray according to 1 Timothy 2:1-4 and set our faith to receive a born-again, Spirit-led President and Vice President who will boldly stand on the White House balcony and give God praise and openly pray for this nation. We pray that you will raise up a President like Daniel of old, who didn’t care who heard him pray or what they thought about it. We pray for the rebirth of this nation…a brand-new, reborn United States of America: one nation under God…a cradle of the gospel to the world! In Jesus Name, AMEN A friend wrote this prayer for me to pray each day for America and I ask that all of God’s people will pray it along with us! May God Bless America! Mary Hamilton

These cross book markers are hand crocheted by a local senior lade. She is selling them for $5.00 each. She is donating a portion of the sells towards items for the new kitchen. She has an array of colors available. These beautiful crosses would make a great Mother’s Day gift. You may contact Cathy Hoke at 785-204-2758 if you are interested. I will be staying after church on Sunday, April 17th with many colors to choose from if you would like to purchase one. You may see some of them hanging in the overflow room on the bulletin board where they are displayed. Thank you and God Bless.

Sponsor a Child to Hidden Haven Camp! God has blessed us with a group of students that way exceeds anything we have had for many years. Last year we took 101 students to HHCC; making FCC the largest student sending church of 45 churches. With the cost of camp rising each year many students are faced with the burden of a price they cannot afford. Thankfully FCC covers the cost for every student who wants to attend. Because we have so many students attending camp the Finance Committee and Church Board have asked me to get some help with the camp bill! If there are people who would be willing to sponsor a student to camp it would be greatly appreciated.

Save the Dates! Summer is near! With so many opportunities it is always helpful for me to have things planned out ahead of time. Here are some dates which will change the lives of your students for Christ! Important Activity: Date to Save Roots Family Festival April 27th, 2016 (5:30p-7p) Vacation Bible School (4yrs.-6th Grade) June 6th-10th (9a-Noon) VBS theme: “Cave Quest Following Jesus The Light of the World”! These are the camp costs for 2016: Overnighter (1-2nd Grade)-$35 Get Acquainted (3rd Grade) - $50.00

This is a ministry that will change our student’s lives for Jesus sake! Please support this hugely valuable ministry. Blessings, FCC Board
