Contests and Awards

The contest and awards resources have been updated for this

year. They are located on the Key Club International website at

http://www.keyclub.org/fad/ca.aspx.

Distinguished officer binder tabs

This year, binder tabs will not be printed out for those interested in

applying for the distinguished officer awards. Key Club

International has updated the content and posted the contents

of the tabs, as well as instructions on how to format your binder by

printing out the materials available.

2012 Key Club oratorical topic

The 2012 oratorical contest topic is "How can the average Key

Clubber bring a global campaign, such as The Eliminate Project,

to their school and local community?"

For the last two years, three oratory finalists and two first place

winners have come from Division 12. I hope that we will be able to

carry on this tradition at the 2012 T-O District Convention.

I would also like all of you to begin compiling resources that can

be passed on to your successor. This is part of the “Legacy

Program” that Governor Megan Iselin has asked the District Board

to carry out.

Fund raising for The Eliminate Project?

Mail your checks to the Kiwanis International

Foundation: 3636 Woodview Trace,

Indianapolis, IN 46268 USA. On your check,

remember to identify your club and

designate the funds for The Eliminate Project

on the memo line. This will help us track your

club's success.

Share your story!

Let us know what you and your club are

doing to build awareness and raise funds for

The Eliminate Project. You can e-mail your

story to [email protected]

-- and who knows, you might be featured in

an upcoming newsletter! You can also share

your story by visiting the website

www.TheEliminateProject.org.

Trick-or-Treat kits

Clubs that wish Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF this

year may order boxes from KI by calling 1-

800-KIWANIS, ext. 411.

For Key Clubs that are interested in co-sponsoring

Builders Club ( the middle school level of Kiwanis):

October is the month of the young adolescent

(http://www.nmsa.org/moya/), an annual

international collaborative effort of education,

health and youth-oriented organizations like

Kiwanis.

During October the National Middle School

Association brings together a wide range of

organizations to focus on the needs of this

important age range, ages 10 to 15. October

would be a great time to charter a Builders Club,

the Kiwanis Service Leadership Program for middle

school and junior high students. Learn what makes

this group tick and help young adolescents

become caring and compassionate citizens

through Builders Club. Starting a club is easy: go to

www.kiwanis.org/charter and contact both myself

and your Kiwanis Club.
