Ebbie DeWilms and Linda Weaver orchestrated another enjoyable afternoonstarting with the “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Gallo. The view from the balconywas extra-ordinary. Some of the background information about Elvis, Johnny,Jerry Lee and Carl, I had not heard before. The time went very quickly and theshow was very enjoyable. This was followed by a delicious dinner at Dewz. Thefood and service was exceptional. If you didn’t have the flourless chocolate cake, you really missed something special. It is still stuck to the roof of my mouth. Thank you Ebbie and Linda!

May is going to be a busy month. We are in count down mode now for the Round Up. I’m still looking forvolunteers to help in Fashion Events. You don’t have to have any talent to help. (I also said that about our craftstoo.) Just as long as you don’t mind being told what to do or where to go. If you do have some talents, and arewilling to share. Please call Me!
I’m really proud of all our ladies that will be dressed in Era attire. You GO GIRLS! It will be so exciting tosee all your gorgeous outfits.
If you signed up to go to the Awards Brunch, I’d like for you to host a table to represent our club. This is greataway of meeting new people and welcome other clubs to your event.
If you are working in other areas, ask if one of the men can cover you for a couple of hours. You’ll enjoy thebrunch. Check with Carol Hansen for tickets.
Saturday nights event is a MUST SEE! You may never have a second chance to see this AWESOME show.Especially new members.
I’m excited every time I think about it, even after all these years. In closing, if you need help pricing things you want to sell at the boutique, just call me. I’m happy to help.

Ladies Funny Craft DaySaturday, April 9, 2016
We started with a very messy and rainy day. There were 18 who braved the weather to make thetrip to the Ott's home.
There were several ladies that brought theirdresses for some finishing touches before the RoundUp. I think we’ll all look fabulous. Great job ladies!
Now, for your cut and paste crafts. We looked likeSanta’s workshop all gathered around the tables. Somewere more challenged then others when it came tocreativity. I have to tell you Miss Dotty out did ALLof us. She made 50+ magnets all by her self. Way togo Dotty! The rest struggled to make a couple of pinsand necklaces. Then others went home with the sweetsmell of lavender.
After we ran short on supplies, it was time oflunch. I have to give Bob Ott credit for a wonderfullunch. He hosted ALL of us gals. Great job Bob!
Thanks, to Sharon for opening your home to all ofus.
Ladies, “Thank You All” for your help. This wasa fun day. Teresa Gissible
Hubley Workshop
I really enjoyed the Hubley workshop. It was my first time to see how the races work and the work that goesinto each car. The funnest part of the morning was when Burta got out her car that her grandson helped her with. She called it the “Tijuana Taxi”. I ended up winning in four or five races until one of Stan Braden’s cars finallytook the win.
It was a lot of fun.Marci Schellman

Era Fashion News ….From Teresa Gissible
Wearing, Caring, and Storing Vintage ClothesBy Anne Neely-Beck
Finding vintage clothes to purchase and wear is a challenge. The web, thrift shops, antique
stores, garage sales, and flea markets are all good choices. Some helpful hints for trying clothes onor determining whether vintage garments fit comes from Christine de Socarras. She states, “the bestway to find out if sleeves of a dress or blouse fit is to put your arms in the sleeves prior to trying onthe complete garment. If your arm fits the sleeve, then try on the dress. Over the years, this hasproven to be an easy way to find out if dress sleeves will fit before trying on a garment. This isparticularly helpful at a flea market, antique show, etc. where there are usually no facilities to try onvintage clothes.”
When wearing vintage clothes and pinning a brooch or flowers to the garment, make sure thepin's thickness does not gouge the threads of the fabric. Vintage fabric can have the threads brokenand start a hole that can never be repaired. If you have a long dress or one with a short train attached, practice wearing it and walking in it a few times. It is so easy to catch a heel in the vintage fabricand tear it beyond repair.
Caring for vintage clothes is time consuming. The fabric is so delicate and requires special care. After you wear one of your vintage garments, turn it inside out and drape it over a chair so thegarment can dry out if it has any perspiration on it. In a perfect world, you should wash or dry cleanthe garment after you wear it. The less time you give odors and stains to set in, the more likely theywill vanish during washing or dry cleaning.
Here a few tips on washing, dry cleaning, stain removal, and moth protection. Some I have used, and some are suggestions I found by doing research on caring for vintage clothes. I have used aproduct called Le Blanc linen (wash.fwww.lmenwash.com or 1-800-814-9274) This is a greatproduct for washing vintage linens and any cotton fabric, and I highly recommend it. Several articlesI have read recommended using Ivory Snow for washing. Every article I have read says not to useWoolite on vintage fabric because it may damage the fabric. I always hand wash vintage fabric. Ihave read articles that say it is okay to use the washing machine. The dry cleaners can be a goodsource for cleaning vintage garments. You must have a good relationship with your dry cleaner. From personal experience, sometimes that doesn't even work, as my favorite vintage silk dress wasreturned to me in shreds. Do talk to the dry cleaner before having a vintage garment cleaned. Mostof the time they will take the extra precaution needed to clean a vintage item. Moths are not one ofmy favorite subjects. I think central Georgia must be the moth capital of the world. I have to usemoth balls and endure the smell. I did read an interesting article that stated, put the garment in apillow case and put it in the freezer. Keep it there for one week and this process should killeverything that eats the fabric. I think I will stick with month balls and the smell. Here are some “offthe wall tips” for getting stains out of vintage clothes. (Use with caution)
• Remove make up by rubbing stain with a slice of bread.• Use comstarch to blot onto any stains that occurs while wearing the garment (it will absorb
the stain and minimize damage, as a stopgap measure before regular cleaning)• Use toothpaste (non-gel, non colored, and no additives) to remove blood and protein stains.
Storing vintage clothes can be a challenge also. If you hang the garment, never use a metalhanger. Use a padded hanger, or better yet, roll the garment in a clean old white sheet (muslin, linenor 100% cotton) and put it in a container that breathes. This way of storing is great because whenyou unroll the garment the wrinkles will disappear in a short time. Do not use a plastic bag! A bagcannot breathe.
Thanks to the Happy Honkers A’s
