Where No One has Gone Before
October is Economic and Community
Development Month
Nearly 1.4 b1llion
employed people live
on less than $1.25 a
day. In an effort to
change this statistic,
Rotarians promote
e c o n o m i c a n d
c o m m u n i t y
development. Last
year the Rotary
Foundation spent 9.2 million dollars to grow local economies. Rotary
members train people to become resources in their communities
offering networking activities, advice on new business development
and financial management training.
There has been success in breaking the cycle of poverty for
women. As an example: Most of the women in rural Guatemala do
not have collateral to receive loans from financial institutions. The
Rotary club of Guatemala de la Ermita helped 400 women obtain
financial literacy courses so they could pool their money and fund
their own microlending company.
Rotarians in various parts of the world are teaching farmers to
extend their growing season and help the residents eat healthier,
local food.
There are so many success stories about the multitude of projects
Rotarians have done in the United Stated and around the world.
Check the Rotary.org site for more examples.

DISTRICT FOUNDATION DINNER
NOVEMBER 3rd-
Our District Foundation dinner is always one of the most popular events of the year
for 5180 Rotarians. We have reserved one table (maybe more) for our club. It is an
inspiring night that reinforces our knowledge of all the good things our Foundation
dollars do.
The theme is HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD
Saturday, November 3rd
6:00 pm (doors open at 5:30)
Double Tree Hotel
2001 Point West Way
$75 per person
If You Plan On Going, Please email Leigh-Ann Reinero. We want you to buy tickets
through us, so we can all sit at the same table.
My Sincere Apology To Mr. Cody What’s the Matter With Me!
I made a video of our member’s precious dogs for
our October meeting, and somehow I forgot to
include the beautiful Mr. Cody. In an effort to seek
forgiveness for my callous mistake, I am giving
him top billing in this newsletter.
Just take a minute and look at this handsome guy.
Is he cute or what? He is such a romantic fellow
too with his “Be Mine” socks.
His best friend is our Passport One member, and
long time dog lover, Roxanne Snyder. She takes
Cody to the park, on camping trips and just about
everywhere she goes.
Mr. Cody, please accept my canine contrition and
know that a king sized dog bone is coming your
way.

Hey Mate! Passport is
Going Down Under
Past President and Facebook guru,
JoAnne Tanner , noticed an
interesting message on our Facebook
page. It was from a Rotarian in
Central Queensland Australia. She
said they want to start a Passport club
in their town and wanted information
on how to do it. Wow—the word about
Passport Clubs is spreading around the
world. That is impressive. Mike or
Glenn will contact her with details.
