CongREgAtIonAL CAREBe reminded that Prayer Request Cards are available in the pews. If you, a family member, or a friend has a special need to be remembered in prayer, fill out this request card and drop it in the offering plate. SALTSEASONED ADULTS
LEARNING TOGETHER
Congregational Care Committee continues to be very active in our church. Many of the members have served on this committee for several years. A very close-knit and dedicated group, the mem-bers in 2017 are Ann Highsmith, moderator, Larry Hogan, vice moderator, Elyse Brown, Sharon Bu-roker, Dianne MacIlwinen, Kaye McRainey, Tad Prewitt, Diane Regensburger, and Ann Rowell.
This committee sends cards to hospitalized church members, birthday cards to homebound members and to the youth group. Handwrit-ten notes of welcome go to each new member once they join First Presbyterian. Cards are sent throughout the year to our college freshmen, and this ministry sends each freshman a care package in April which includes gift cards, snacks, and many fun and timely items as they approach their final exams for the year. This was a goal of the committee to be more supportive of our youth.
Another key activity that always falls to the Congregational Care Committee is the annual Graduation Luncheon in early June which honors the high school graduates and their parents. Con-gregational Care Committee also hosts the cov-ered-dish luncheon following the Mission Confer-
ence weekend. An annual event each August is the hot dog luncheon accompanying the Mission Conference Update. The committee provides and prepares this meal for the congregation.
“Meals that Matter” was organized last year, and home-cooked meals are delivered to any church member who has been ill or has an emergency and is in need of a meal and the remembrance that goes along with this worthwhile project.
Homebound Communion is another project that Congregational Care Committee organizes in using the Deacons and Elders in carrying out this wonderful ministry that has been so meaningful to many homebound members for many years.
Of course, Stephen Ministry continues to be alive and active. A Stephen Minister is matched with a care receiver, and continues to be a success-ful program at First Presbyterian.
Lastly, the recent church pictorial directory is a project that Congregational Care Committee un-dertook in 2014 (completed in 2015). It had been years since a pictorial had been produced. The information it contains of all First Presbyterian church members with complete names, addresses, and phone numbers is invaluable.

Meals that MatterThis ministry delivers meals to members of the church family who need them. Contact Debbie Williams ([email protected] or 910-485-2692) for more information.
