Dear Families of Al Thameed,

It is my hope that you are your family are all well. We are wrapping up a very busy month in school. We started with a rotational schedule on November 1st, we held our student council elections, we are �nalizing our PTA elections, completed our MAP tests, and our middle school students completed their week of exams all while abiding by the new normal of Covid life. Our students, with your support and guidance have done well and I am so proud of their e�orts and hard work this term. As we look forward to the remaining weeks in this year, I wish to bring to your attention that the teachers will be assessing students next week and will prepare their reports. We will be sending report cards home on Tuesday, December 8th, insha Allah. The follow-ing day we will host a parent teacher event so parents who wish to learn more about their child’s progress can meet their teachers. I will also be sharing some important information regarding MAP tests and what it means and how educators use it to note progress at an international level.

Last but not least, we will be celebrating Qatar National Day from a distance. We have fun events planned that will allow us to celebrate the beautiful country we all call home. As you look ahead, please know that our winter holidays will begin on Sunday, Decem-ber 20th and our school will be closed until December 31st insha Allah. We will resume school on Sunday, January 3, 2021 insha Allah.

أهالي الثميد الأعزاء

أتمنى أن تكون عائلتك بخير. نحن بصدد إنهاء شهركان مزدحم للغاية في المدرسة. سنبدأ بجدول زمني للتناوب في الأول من

الخاصة بنا ، وأكمل MAP لدينا ، وأكملنا اختبارات PTA نوفمبر ، وعقدنا انتخابات مجلس الطلاب لدينا ، وننهي انتخابات

طلاب المدارس الإعدادية أسبوعهم من الاختبارات مع الالتزام بالوضع الطبيعي الجديد لحياة. لقد قام طلابنا ، بدعمكم

وتوجيهكم ، بعمل جيد وأنا فخور جدًا بجهودهم وعملهم الجاد في هذا الفصل

نظراً لأننا نتطلع إلى الأسابيع المتبقية في هذا العام، أود أن ألفت انتباهكم إلى أن المعلمين سيقيمون الطلاب الأسبوع المقبل

وما تعنيه وكيف يستخدمها اختصاصيو التوعية لملاحظة التقدم على MAP بعض المعلومات المهمة المتعلقة باختبارات

أخيراً وليس آخراً ، سنحتفل باليوم الوطني لدولة قطر من بعيد. لدينا أحداث ممتعة مخططة ستسمح لنا بالاحتفال بالبلد

Respect to Perseverance:

As you may be aware the students explored the very important trait of respect with their teachers during the �rst term. The parents, teachers, and students all voted to decide what shall be our trait to learn for term 2 and the winner is perseverance. The students are going to be learning about perseverance in the next term and it is a trait that will be greatly bene�cial for the students as they grow up and take on the challenges of life.It is important that they don’t give and keep going through challenges. I am also reminded of following quote by Steve Jobs, the creator of Apple, who has been reported to have said: “I'm convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.”I look forward to exploring the trait with our students in term 2 and ask that you bring up this important concept with children at home so that they start to see the connection and we hope that it will become a part of their character to persevere through chal-lenges with a positive attitude.

كما تعلمون، اكتشف الطلاب السمة المهمة جدًا للاحترام مع معلميهم خلال الفصل الدراسي الأول. صوّت الآباء والمعلمون والطلاب جميعًا ليقرروا ما هي السمة التي يجب أن نتعلمها للفصل الدراسي الثاني والفائز

هو المثابرة. سيتعلم الطلاب عن المثابرة في الفصل الدراسي التالي وهي سمة ستكون مفيدة جدًا للطلاب أثناءنموهم ومواجهة تحديات الحياة

من المهم ألا يعطوا وأن يستمروا في مواجهة التحديات. أتذكر أيضًا الاقتباس التالي من ستيف جوبز ، مبتكرشركة آبل ، والذي ورد أنه قال

أنا مقتنع بأن حوالي نصف ما يفصل رواد الأعمال الناجحين عن غير الناجحين هو مثابرة خالصة

إنني أتطلع إلى استكشاف السمة مع طلابنا في الفصل الدراسي الثاني وأطلب منك طرح هذا المفهوم المهم معالأطفال في المنزل حتى يبدأوا في رؤية الصلة ونأمل أن تصبح جزءًا من شخصيتهم إن شاء الله

Increasing School Day!

Starting November 29, 2020 we will increase our school day and will provide 6 peri-ods. School will begin at 7:30 and now will end at 12:15. We will continue with 3/2 rotation with section 1 and section 2. Preschool and KGS will also follow the same schedule and will not have double shifts on Tuesdays. Since students are meeting with teachers onsite, the online learning will also be adjusted and will be as follows: Grade Levels Mode of Online Learning PS – Grade 2 Recorded Lessons with Tasks to be completed on Class Dojo Grade 3 – Grade 8 Synchronized Learning on teams In order to ensure a safe dismissal, it will continue to be staggered and will be as follows: Grade Levels Timings PS-KGS 12:10 G1-G3 12:15 G4-G8 12:2

We had 14 students participate in running for student council o�ces. Students created their videos and posted them online. The voting was held electroni-cally this year and we are so proud of all of our students who are willing to put in their extra e�orts to participate in school fun. The student council is the voice of our students that is represented when we plan school wide events. Last year, they suggested ideas for our monthly celebrations and this year they will continue to enlighten us with their ideas. We look forward to seeing the contributions from this year’s council.

We are ever grateful for our parent community who is always willing to lend us their time and participate in PTA. PTA is a very special team of parents and teachers who work together and collaborate on ideas to help develop our schools. I am grateful for our PTA members from 2019-2020 who bridged e�ec-tively between the parent and the school community. We thank them for their time and wish them only the best and look forward to nominating our new PTA team. Voting begins November 29th. Thank you for your participation.

Qatar National Day 2020

Winter Holidays

Heritage Games Competition On November 29th, 2 students from our school participated in traditional games competition in Sheikha Hessa 's palace at Al Wajbah. Students received training and a learned about the history of traditional games. Saif Al Mohannadi, Grade 5, and Talal Al Reisi, grade 6 represented our school. Talal Al Reisi in grade 6 advanced to the semi�nals and earned second rank. He was also interviewed by the media where he expressed his happiness. Both of the students will be receiving certi�cates from the event. We are all proud of our students’ e�orts.

This year although social gatherings and events may be canceled the love we all have for the country remains strong. The activity coordinator, Ms. Insaf and our Qatar History teachers, Ms. Samia along with our Art teacher Ms. Nada will be coordinating events and activities to celebrate the birth of Qatar with safety precautions. There are poetry and art contests being planned. Students will also show their spirit by wearing Qatar colors on special days. We look forward to a fun and festive December ahead.

Please note that school will be on holiday from December 20th to December 31. Schools will start again on Sunday, January 3rd. We would like to wish you in advance and healthy, restful and happy holiday.

إجازة الشتاء

في 29 نوفمبر ، شارك طالبان من مدرستنا في مسابقة الألعاب الشعبية التراثية في قصر الشيخة حصة في

الوجبة. تلقى الطلاب تدريباً وتعرفوا على تاريخ الألعاب الشعبية التراثية. سيف المهندي ، الصف الخامس ،

وطلال الريسي ، الصف السادس ، مثلوا مدرستنا. طلال الريسي في الصف السادس تقدم إلى نصف النهائي

وحصل على المركز الثاني. كما تمت مقابلته في وسائل الإعلام حيث أعرب عن سعادته. وسيحصل كلا الطالبين

على شهادات من هذا الحدث. كلنا فخورون بجهود طلابنا

على الرغم من أن التجمعات والمناسبات الاجتماعية قد يتم إلغاؤها هذا العام، إلا أن الحب الذي نتمتع به

جميعًا لهذا البلد لا يزال قوياً. منسقة النشاطات، السيدة إنصاف ومعلمة تاريخ قطر، السيدة سامية مع

معلمة الفن الآنسة ندى سيقومون بتنسيق الأحداث والأنشطة للاحتفال باليوم الوطني لدولة قطر، مع

اتخاذ احتياطات السلامة، يجري التخطيط لمسابقات شعرية وفنية. كما سيظهر الطلاب حبهم وامتنانهم

من خلال ارتداء الألوان القطرية في ايام الخاصة. نتطلع إلى متعة واحتفالات شهر ديسمبر المقبل

يرجى ملاحظة أن المدرسة ستكون في إجازة من 20 ديسمبر إلى 31 ديسمبر. وستبدأ المدارس مرة أخرى يوم

الأحد ، 3 يناير. نتمنى لكم مقدمًا إجازة صحية ومريحة وسعيدة
