As we approach fall and begin our usual routines, do we have a space to meet God and a time scheduled to meet there? I think it is so easy to neglect this time to get our thoughts together and be spiritually fed. When I think about having a space to meet God, I think about my motorcycle shop. My shop is a converted storage unit, where I work on bikes. That sounds simple, but this place is so much more, it is a place where I feel 100% comfortable. A place where my sign collection hangs on every wall and other memories of life find their place. I can leave a mess and not worry about it. I can arrange things how
I want. I can read my bible, pray, and work on sermons. It is a place that I can go and be me. I get in-spiration and I also wrestle with the hard questions of life. Do you have a place like this? Sometimes it is helpful to realize that God loves each of us and wants to listen to our hopes and dreams, make a time and a place for God.
Pastor Joey
Charge Conference has been scheduled for November 30th from 6:30-8:30pm.
All reports are due to the office by November 6th

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF SAVANNA ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL
Sunday, August 20, 2017 10:30am
Chairperson Burt Dauphin called the meeting to order with 13 members present and 3 guests
present. Pastor Joey Garcea opened the meeting with prayer. Jason Moore moved and Paul
Mayer seconded a motion to accept the minutes from the July meeting and the motion carried.
Vivian Eaton presented the financial reports and Susan Michelle Jepsen moved and Kathie
Prins seconded a motion to approve the reports.
TRUSTEES: Paul reported the shed on the church’s triangle property is gone. A bid was re-
ceived to replace the fence around the church’s air conditioner for $2456. The church’s roof
leak bid is $575, however, the person inspecting the roof made a mistake and went to the par-
sonage, where he discovered a problem and submitted a bid of $1075 for that repair. The
handicapped– accessible bathroom is coming along and the nursery has been moved across the
hall. The playground excavation should start soon. The dimmer switch in the sanctuary is not
working, along with lights in the kitchen and a spotlight on one of the paintings in the sanctu-
ary. They will check into replacing the last set of doors on the church to more energy-efficient
ones. A tree at the parsonage needs to be removed. Pam Darrow suggested calling the city as
they are removing trees throughout the town.
STAFF PARISH RELATIONS: LaVona Grissinger and he committee are working on updat-
ing job descriptions.
FINANCE: Randy Bonjour reported the committee recommends we adopt the Cokesbury and Discipline’s rules for finance and the recommendation carried. He moved and Jason seconded a motion to sell the stock in the Scholarship Fund, which is based on Fannie May, which is be-ing phased out, and the motion carried. The money will be invested in a similar stock.
OUTREACH: Jason and his committee are working on a dinner after church when the Sun-day service returns to 10:15am.
WORSHIP: Peg Dauphin reported they are working on nursery procedures and a Safe Sanc-
tuary policy. The church picnic will be hold August 26,2017. Blessing of the Backpacks will be hold on September 17, 2017. We will be adding more praise music to our services.
5
UMW: The Fall Salad Supper will be September 12th and the Bazaar and Luncheon is Octo-ber 21, 2017.
EDUCATION: Kris Yingling was happy to announce that Pastor Joey and Sandy Wurster will be teaching the Preschool Sunday School class.
PASTOR’S REPORT: Zion Cluster will be holding a pulpit exchange on Sunday, September 24th. A 4-week study will be held on the Unity of the Church. The Interchurch Council will be starting a dinner church at Manny’s for 8 weeks, studying the Book of Mark. Pastor Joey asked for prayers for this venture, as we try to reach unchurched people in the community. He and Pastor Gary Panetta from the Presbyterian church will be going door to door inviting peo-ple to attend. The annual church conference will be November 30th, at 7PM., with Staff Parish Relations committee meeting at 6:30PM.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:25am.
Respectfully submitted,
Molly Andersen
