The Bears’ Men’s Team placed 11th in its first year of competition. z Junior Lindsay Atkin (Hickory, N.C.) broke the school record in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events at the league championships. Both swimming squads broke numerous records at the conference meet while the L-R men were the 10th most- improved team in NCAA Division II.

Forward Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.) led the L-R Men’s Basketball Team in scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (5.3 rpg) and earned 2010-11 South Atlantic Conference All-Freshman Team honors.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior Kate Griewisch (Banner Elk, N.C.) competed in the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Chamionships on Saturday, March 12, in Albuquerque, N.M. Griewisch ran a 17:18 in the 5,000-meter run and was one place away from earning All-American honors after finishing ninth overall.

Junior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) earned All-South Atlantic Conference First-Team honors in women’s basketball in 2010-11. Sealey led Lenoir-Rhyne in scoring (17.9 ppg) and free throw percentage (.801) this season.

Lenoir-Rhyne Athletic Highlights

Freshman third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.), who has won conference player-of-the-week honors this year, leads the L-R Softball Team in batting (.400), home runs (eight) and RBI (27).

Sophomore Kelsey Love (Port Orange, Fla.) has gotten off to a strong start for the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Tennis Team this season. Love has won four times in singles play and is 6-2 at doubles including a 4-1 mark against South Atlantic Conference opponents.

Sophomore Saran Minick (Marietta, Ga.) has gotten off to a red-hot start for the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse Team, leading the squad in goals (26) after the first eight contests this year.
